Grand Kartal Hotel

We are all so very sorry about the 78 people, 39 of which were children, who burned down in this hotel. We see from the press and social media that no precautions against a fire were taken, no alarms, no sprinklers, no proper emergency stairs. We cannot find the words to express the extent of this tragedy.

Although a little pricey, this hotel was perfect for us two couples who’ve never taken part in winter sports before. 2 of us were skiing, and 2 boarding, the staff were very accommodating when asking for rental equipment and sizing us up on the first floor at the ski centre. We hired 3 helmets, 3 trousers, 2 jackets, ski’s, poles, boards, and 4 pairs of boots. We had them for 2 days and cost 2700 TLR for both days for everything, which we left in a locker overnight. You get your ski pass from a booth on the 5th floor just by reception for a 50TLR deposit. The lobby bar is also on the 5th floor, very warm and accommodating staff throughout. Main restaurant is on the 4th floor and the food is amazing, every meal, such a variation and good quality. You get evening meal included on check in day, and up to lunch on check out day. There are a couple of other bars within the hotel which are not all inclusive, so we just stayed in the lobby bar which closed at midnight. There’s accessible parking out front and we left the car there for the duration of our stay. The spa on the first floor is excellent, large pool, sauna and steam room with great views of the cold outdoors! Our room was great, no issue with noise one small thing, it was a little warm, even with the window open all night! Would definitely recommend this hotel!
