The Commercial Boutique Hotel

Booked 2 nights in Room 7 which faces away from the main street for $250/night. The hotel is right in town with a carpark behind. Friendly checkin. Nice art deco throughout. The room is located on the 1st floor. There is no lift, & no offer of help with luggage. Our room was quite spacious with a separate alcove for the bed, which is very comfortable & a separate seating area with 2 easy chairs & tv. There's a courtesy tray for tea & coffee & the best biscuits (other than the home made ones we occasionally get) we have ever had. The fridge is quiet (only milk in it.) The ensuite is small but has a good shower in a stall where the water doesn't leak out & nice toilettries in plunger bottles. The windows which look toward the mountain & overlook the carpark aren't openable, so you need to use the air con. In any case, it is quiet & works well. Wifi is fast & can be relied upon. We ate in the restaurant both nights & thought the food very good-duck breast & beef cheeks the 1st night & we each had Salmon the 2nd night. There's a nice choice of wines & its good to see some local choices. The restaurant has a nice ambiance & the staff very professional & pleasant. It was busy on the Tuesday & Wednesday night we were there. Our room was very quiet & comfortable & we slept well. The room was serviced, & used items replaced. Always appreciated. I chose the hotel to celebrate a special occasion, & overall, I am pleased I did so. The only additional thing I'd like to see is a coffee pod machine in the room. This is due to the room rate.

Wish I'd read some of these reviews before dining. And yes, its as bad as everyone says. For $37 i got a plate with a small reheated chicken leg with a wedge of onion, one baby carrot and a heaped teaspoon of watery potato mash. Nothing was cooked properly, my tummy gurgled for hours afterwards

This place is exceptional and completely exceeded any expectations I had. We booked the Queen deluxe suite with the bath and could not believe how beautiful and perfect every little detail was. I have never been in such a spotlessly clean, immaculate hotel and I’ve travelled extensively across the country and world for work. Words can’t deceive how breathtaking it is. The food was exceptional also. We will definitely be back. A wonderful and romantic weekend getaway.

Lovely restored old country hotel…..room amazing, Needs a make up mirror as bathroom mirror very high, aircon very tricky…….but apart from that staff friendly, meals great …….I would recommend

Hotel staff are great…friendly, warm and efficient. The room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. The downstairs restaurant has a good vibe and was perfect for a quick dinner after a long day’s drive.

Great location with off street parking. Friendly helpful staff on check-in and accommodating early check in was very much appreciated. Room 7 is a smaller room with a sitting room which has 2 comfortable chairs a built in robe and somewhere to place your luggage. The beds are comfortable although queen size and my personal preference is King. We needed an early nights sleep for an early start in the morning however, the noise from the restaurant music and furniture moving was quite loud from our room. We also had a lot of noise from the stairs and hallway from other travellers. This is the only reason I have not given five stars and I wouldn’t personally choose to stay next time.
