KKR Kawayu

Great place, very cozy town There is no food in winter, but there is a great sushi restaurant nearby The room is very spacious, but unfortunately there is no separate bathtub. However, the Kawayu hot spring is very unique and I highly recommend it.

The hotel is very comfortable

Authentic and pleasant

It's been ten years since I stayed at KKR since I stayed in Atami through an acquaintance. I was a little worried about how I would feel because the hotel I stayed at the day before was luxurious, but I was able to stay comfortably. The building is in the style of a Showa-era resort, but as other people have said, the interior has been renovated and is new and clean. It is a three-story building, with the hot spring on the first basement floor and one elevator in each floor. There were chair seats and a play area for small children in the lobby. The interior was also nicely renovated. The yukata and thin towels for bathing reminded me of the Showa era. There is a bathroom with a bathtub in a separate room from the toilet. The iced water in the water purification pot for after bathing was very delicious. By the way, the pot for boiling water is tap water. The most important thing to note about staying in the summer is that there is no air conditioning in the room, only a fan. The hotel staff had made sure to mention in advance that there was no air conditioning, and I like air conditioning, but I thought it would be okay because I'm in Hokkaido. However, contrary to my expectations, it was muggy every day during this trip, and I was worried on the day, but I was able to sleep by only taking a shower at night and turning the fan to maximum. There is air conditioning around the lobby. It is not in the hallway, but the window is open, so the sulfur smell from outside comes in. Hot Springs Hot springs only in the early morning. There was no one there, probably because it was early in the morning. There was an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and it was spacious enough for its size. The hot springs with a strong sulfur smell were very pleasant and reminded me of the Manza Onsen I went to as a child. Food Breakfast was served in the dining room on the first floor. Tables were assigned to each room and were prepared in advance. There was a sufficient number of dishes, and the white rice and miso soup were delicious and filled me up. Overall I imagined that the facility was mostly staffed by people related to the facility, but although I saw some elderly people who seemed to be former employees, it seemed that there were also many general users, and there were many motorcycles parked in front of the entrance, as well as young people. Even though there was no air conditioning or dinner, we were able to stay at a good price even during the high season, and the hot springs were very good and the rooms were clean, so it was a very good value inn. Next time, I would like to return to enjoy a leisurely soak in the hot springs when I don't have to worry about air conditioning. Thank you for your hospitality.

This was the second day of my trip to Eastern Hokkaido. The hotel was a public inn, so I didn't have high expectations, but the room was clean and the hot food was warm and delicious. It's true that the hotel itself is a public inn and has a simple layout, but that could be said to add to the travelling spirit. As for the hot spring, Kawayu Onsen itself has been declining year by year, but it is a famous hot spring among the many hot springs in Hokkaido, and it exceeded my expectations. The water was warm enough to heat up my body even after I went to sleep. The open-air bath in the men's bath was small, but I had it all to myself.
