Kalpavanam Heritage Resort

This hotel is a great experience to stay in the middle of the forest, there are monkeys in the trees outside your balcony and other animals and birds make fantastic noises. Unfortunately the facilities are not up to standard and it is at best a 3* and the food in the restaurant is not great, but if you want the experience it’s good

Really enjoyed the ambience & greenery of the resort . Loved the vintage feel of the Heritage Cottage though it didnt have storage space for our luggage. We had also taken the adjacent Green Room for accommodating our group of 7. This gave us the private area at our disposal. Service was good .. food was simple, tasty & excellent and we preferred it like that. The kitchen staff, who were friendly and cordial, need to be lauded for that. The premises is adjacent to and connected with the area that the elephants reside in and we enjoyed the visual treat of the elephants being bathed, fed and handled every morning. The owners of the property, Mr and Mrs Thomas reside within the premises and are amenable and friendly. Overall a satisfying experience.

The day we arrived, there was a massive construction happening on the road which prevented us from getting there on a proper route + getting into the site was hard because of the heavy tarring of the road that was happening right in the entrance. When we go the reception, we were told that this construction had been happening for the last 2 days and we weren't informed about it - if we were, we could have changed our accomodation to some place else. Because of the construction, there was a lot of pollution and tarry/smoke smell on the site which made staying outside, not so great. The resort itself was nice to look at from the outside but the bathrooms lacked a lot of the amenities which made our stay only okay. While the property is nice to look at, we weren't too happy with the stay. If the reception staff had let us know about the construction ahead of time and been at least apologetic about it, I would give a better rating but sadly, that wasn't the case.

The property is amazing. We reached the resort late and the owner was very helpful and helped us with all the things. The moment we entered the room we were in awe. The rooms are super clean and spacious. We were provided with all the amenities. Next day the breakfast buffet was just too good and hygiene was well maintained. They served us fresh hot appam with veg korma, chole bhatura, omelette, fresh fruits, fresh juice, bread butter jam. The owner also arranged an amazing dinner for us. He also arranged for the tickets of kathakali show for us. We went to their in-house elephant ride place which gain was amazing overall best service and experience at kalpavanam.

This place is something else!! Out of the world location, the log house was the best!! Its just beside the Elephant Reserve which you can walk and visit!! The hospitality the arrangements was excellent!!! We regretted not staying further!!
