Mt Mulligan Lodge

Went out to the Lodge under our own steam from Cairns, lobbing in at about 2pm and greeted with a smile and champagne on arrival... This set the tone of our 3 night stay! Told we were upgraded to a luxury room and went off to look in and it was as the pic shows: 5 star luxury. For the next few days and nights we were served food and drink and taken on informative and historic tours of the gold mine, old coal mining town and witnessed a muster in action. The service - there is a self-serve bar of beer, wine and spirits, get at any time you want, plus the room mini bar is always fully stocked and refreshed with some favourites. Each mealtime is a four or five course belly filling delight (check pics) and we couldn't wait to see what was served up next. The staff are awesome and Dan, (we reckon he is Hugh Grant's son), Kiah, Phoebe, James, Yannick, Gianni, Tim, Neve (or Niamh), and many more made it the friendliest place, even putting up with Gareth's Lodge goss. On our last night, there were only 3 other couples at dinnertime and we all sat together and had drinks and dinner, a fun night as if with friends back home. The relaxation you get from all the little things the staff do (e.g. the notes behind the bar about likes and requirements), the set menu and provided drinks, and the isolation of the Lodge is a tonic for the weary and stressed. We have noted there other Lodge stays similar and will definitely be exploring them in future!

I can only suggest you ignore the two average reviews on this page. As of Nov 2024, we had the MOST incredible and luxurious stay at Mt Mulligan Lodge. Wow! We came to Mt Mulligan Lodge straight from Lizard Island and WOW… mt mulligan blew our minds! Arriving by helicopter was sensational. The service, staff, attention to detail, interiors, everything was so incredible. Our room was enormous and luxurious with amazing views of mount mulligan. We were upgraded too which was lovely. We had an outdoor bath on our deck which was so nice. All the meals were so beautifully thought through. Lunch is a feasting style, themed and changing everyday. ALL of the staff were so interesting and fun. ALSO a huge 5* to our lovely activity guide, Tim, who took us on 4 amazing trips. We did a tour of the old gold mine, an ATV adventure, star gazing after dinner, as well as a tour of the old township and coal mine town on ATVs. He was fun and energetic and knew SO much about the local environment, indigenous culture, stars and planets, gold mines, etc etc the list goes on. He really made our trip, along with the whole team in F&B. If you are thinking about booking Mt Mulligan - do not hesitate!! (Also, really glad we did our 3 nights at MML after 3 nights in the Great Barrier Reef and 3 nights in the Daintree - really cool way to experience the reef, rainforest and outback. Mt Mulligan was the standout best of the three!!!)

The most relaxing and rejuvenating holiday I have ever experienced. For those that appreciate tranquility and a view that does not get 'old', Mt Mulligan Lodge is up there with the best of the best. Nice having the options to go on a 4 hour hike exploring a stunning creek bed or relax on your balcony or by the pool listening to birdsong. World class service, food and accomodation! Highly recommend the 'Dining under the stars' experience... just perfection.

Thank you Mt Mulligan for the most amazing 5 days 4 night stay. We were recommended the lodge for friends in Cairns and it did not disappoint, it would have to be one of the most beautiful places we have stayed. From the time we drove in the gates we felt very special. The grounds were fabulous with amazing plants and walkways. Our room was stunning with a beautiful lounge chair to relax on and watch the birds and wildlife. You could be as active or relaxed as you liked. We loved the activities and the walks, the mining tour and gold mine tour were interesting. The walks were amazing some we did on our own and some with guide, we loved the walk up to the ravine and the swim in the pool. The food was fresh and so tasteful, every meal was a delight. Some nights we enjoyed dinner alone and other night we shared with the other guests. The staff obviously loved their jobs they were fabulous, very knowledgeable about the history and willing to share their experiences with us. It was lovely that they never seemed rushed and had time to talk. A very special place - thank you jan and Ewie
