March 26, 2025
In Kerala, March is the last month of the native solar calendar. The Malayali new year is celebrated usually around mid-April. In many ways, it is the culmination of the old and beginning of the new. Personally, March is a time for introspection, self-reflection and transformation. This time around, it was a 10-day spiritual trip, visiting multiple temples in and around Thrissur district. Thrissur holds a special place in my heart due to personal ties. When the decision was made to spend time in Kerala and Hyatt Regency Thrissur surfaced as an option, there was a sense that this trip was going to be different. And it was, in more ways than one. The hotel is located outside town and thus is a lot quieter at night, which is a good thing, especially for light sleepers. Yet, it is reasonably easy to access. The property is impeccably maintained and checks all boxes for what one expects in a 5-star property. The gym is reasonably well-stocked for a good workout, which I made use a few times during my stay. I did not use the pool or the spa during this stay, although they were inviting. The buffet spread at this hotel matches just about any Hyatt with tons of choice. The F&B team did superbly well to cater to my special dietary needs. The food was healthy, nutritious, flavorful and well presented. Kudos to Chef Sumesh Sai, Chef Dhanasekhar and the rest of the Chef team for taking great care. Housekeeping was excellent with Sreekumar ensuring my room was spotless, refreshed and replenished everyday. Truly appreciated his attention to detail. I also used the laundry service multiple times. Thank you to Sreeni and his team for taking good care of my clothing :) The F&B team requires special mention with outstanding service provided by - Amal, Midlaj, Prince, Kiran, Shon, Nikki, Sangeetha, Rani & Nikhil. Kudos to all of you for your hospitality and warmth. Apologies if I have missed anyone here. For me the biggest feature of this hotel was its people and the service that they provided. It was top-class and was heartening to see all of them going above-and-beyond the call of duty. The Indian saying - अतिथिदेवो भव held true in this hotel, where a guest is truly taken cared for. Additional special mentions: Security, valet and bell service - Jojo, Shaju, Pritam, Sanoj & Nunsang Front Desk - Ashvani, Gopika & Safalya Front Office - Nikhil Paul & Smriti Mohandas General Manager - Vinod Kumar Thank you all for your warmth, hospitality, courtesy and professional care. I wish all of you the best in your future endeavors and look forward to seeing you soon :) As they say in our native tongue - നന്ദി, നമസ്കാരം, ഞാൻ തിരിച്ചുവരും :)
