"Regular visitor to Penang, about 5 times per year.
First time staying in this hotel and I must say it is the best in terms of location, especially for foodie like me. Yummy is everywhere once I step out of this hotel.
Only downside, there is no bedside power point to pluck in to charge my phone. So every time a notification tone comes in, I gotta get out of bed to go check on it.
Other than that, all is excellent.
Attach a couple of photos on the most popular food just along the street outside the hotel."
"The hotel has a good location. The room is medium-sized, decent enough to stay in. The bathroom amenities are nice — the shampoo and shower gel smell good and seem to be of good quality. However, there’s no toothbrush provided, and only one thin, old towel that’s been used for quite some time, though it was clean enough.
I’d deduct points for cleanliness, as it seems they only clean the frequently used areas such as the bed, table, and floor. The shelves and drawers still had dust, and the bedside table was also dusty. In my room, the sofa had a very strong unpleasant smell, like old urine, with visible stains — I didn’t dare to use it. There was also a strange smell in the room, not quite like perfume, and it took a while for my nose to get used to it.
Overall, it’s acceptable for a short stay, but there’s definitely room for improvement."
"All in all, not dat bad. The location of dis hotel is nice, those spots r very nearby. However, the WiFi is too terrible, even I using their WiFi or my own data I still can’t got it well. Besides , the sea view was alright even though I’m still disappointed thought dat the sea view would be very nearby the hotel but actually there’s still a distance. Additionally, the breakfast was okay nothing special , the menu almost same every day"
"Room is clean though toilet slightly a bit small. One thing that not good is the sound insulation is quite bad. Can hear sound travel as next door room make some noise. Can be annoying if the next door room make continuous sound.
Location in the heart of Georgetown where can walk anywhere to all the sightseeing place."
"Room was small but clean, cozy and comfortable. The only thing to note is that the room isn’t very soundproof — we could hear people passing by the corridor and doors closing loudly at midnight many times. Parking was challenging. Great location to nearby attractions and shops. Overall great 👍🏻"
"Fast check in process by Mr Saran. Easy parking access (no need to take any parking ticket. Receptionist will register your car plate number and you can enter and out from parking lot how many time you want). Requested birthday decorations and im so happy when i saw the decoration. It was so amazing! And we get small cake too! Thanks St Giles Wembley Penang for this hospitality!
Booked Premier King room. I was impressed by the cleanliness and comfort room. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable just the pillow is a bit hard for me. Nice view from the room. Quiet room.
Breakfast 9/10. Many varieties of food. Delicious! Especially the taufufa. I repeat 3 times 😊.
Gym is pretty nice and had adequate equipment. Pool view is Komtar 💜 Great location. Walking distance to 1st Avenue Mall, and most places.
Hope this hotel will maintain the services, and cleanliness for long time. Will certainly return to St Giles Wembley Hotel on my next visit to Penang."
"Location was good, but too noisy. Even people walk passed my room also giving noice, hearing people next room talking, showering…and sometimes just hearing waterfalls, and strange noises. A-bit old too"
"Hospitality is superb, but the only downside is the kids' pool. It was so slippery at the 3 hoops sections. Slipped and fell hard on it. Hurt my wrist as I used my wrist to break the fall. It happened too fast.. hopefully, the maintenance could look into it and really scrubbed it as it is indeed very dangerous for the kids."
"Love the design of the hotel. The room is huge by Penang standard and comes with lots of carpark. We had a really comfortable stay at Sho. The cons is the location which is located slightly away from the Center. The water pressure in the shower is sometimes too low. These are minor problems. Definitely will visit again"
"The deluxe room was spacious, room is clean and non carpet (which we like it very much). Toilet showering area was big too. Along the corridor, there is a water cooler, so good for top up water daily as many times as you like. No need to buy mineral water..breakfast quality is good. Variety is limited though. The restaurant staff services are excellent as all of them are cheerful and polite. Our hotel views are facing the Komtar - The top..nice view. Will stay here again if we come to penang in future"

Great
GGuest UserRich in history, incredibly spacious, and perfect for drivers | 4.7/5
I stayed for one night at the Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang. My overall experience was fantastic: The atmosphere was elegant and serene, with public areas and architectural details steeped in history and a sense of grandeur. Both the room and bathroom were exceptionally spacious, with a comfortable layout, making it effortless to spread out luggage. It was very convenient for self-driving guests, with clear entry and exit points and smooth luggage loading/unloading.
In summary: If you're looking for a heritage hotel that perfectly balances historic charm with generous space, this place is definitely worth a stay.
AAnonymous UserExcellent Family Experience at Parkroyal Penang Resort
Our recent stay at Parkroyal Penang Resort was truly enjoyable and memorable. From the moment we arrived, every staff member — from the parking guards and bellmen to the café, restaurant, pool, and housekeeping teams — was genuinely friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Special thanks to Ms. Elita and Ms. Hema for their warm hospitality during check-in and clear explanation about the resort facilities. Appreciation also to Ku Irham, who patiently showed us several room options and helped us choose the most suitable one for our family. The view from our room was lovely — I could watch my child playing in the pool below and still enjoy a nice beach view.
Grateful to Mr. Alfizan, the bellman, for his kind help with our luggage, and to the Chinese housekeeping lady (Level 2 near the kids’ pool) for her thoughtful reminder to keep our balcony door closed when monkeys were around — such great attention to detail!
We also truly appreciated the complimentary birthday cake for my wife. It was a wonderful gesture that made our stay extra special.
Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices, room was clean and cool, and the atmosphere throughout the resort was relaxing and family-friendly.
Highly recommended for families looking for a warm and welcoming beach resort in Penang. We’ll definitely come back again!
GGuest UserOverall quite comfortable stay. Suite with 2 rooms was just nice for our family of 4. Extra space was an advantage with a kitchenette facility. Pool was nice even though a bit small. Still good enough for a few quick laps and views from pool was nice. Service is good. Staff is efficient and responsive when we requested for extra pillows, towels etc. Location is near to popular eateries but most convenient to drive or Grab around unless don’t mind walking a bit further.
AAnonymous UserIt is more budget friendly hotel for families. It's basic, but adequate.
Reception is too big and void of furniture and decor.
I was given a corner room with door opening to the side away from corridor, though it made room smaller, but it was good as it prevented light spill underneath the door, and noise from noisey neighbors.
Only partial view of the sea, as very high rise condos infront of hotels took all the prime estate.
The shower is too near the glass panels and hot water doesn't work the maintenance guy have to come on 2 days to get it right. I hate the cold shower.
The AC is cold, newly renovated, but noisey.
TV channel is not the best, get to watch very old movies, like 60s.
Breakfast is Buffett style, not the 5 star hotel type, but still a good spread.
Didn't use the pool but it's fun for families.
Getting to the beach is thru lifts on the 7th floor, which brings you down to 1st floor to beach, but access is only from 8am to 8 pm. Signage is no good.
Wouldn't stay here again, though cheaper, but too basic, it's a watered down Holiday inn.
WWishiwashiThe hotel is not in the most central area of George Town, and there isn’t much nearby, so you will mostly need to travel by Grab. Other than that, the hotel is sparkling clean and new. There’s also a nice coffee and tea corner near the reception. I felt relaxed and enjoyed my stay.
WWenwuOzo Hotel Georgetown is conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown, making it easy to access nearby attractions. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and offers good value for money.
However, there are a few downsides — the reception on the ground floor is often unattended, making parking and retrieving your car inconvenient. The soundproofing is poor, as you can clearly hear other guests showering. Lastly, the Wi-Fi connection is unstable and frequently disconnects.
GGuest UserThe hotel location is good; close to the famous temple Kek Lok Si and Penang Hill as well as many coffee shop, food market and small restaurants.. but the hotel looks worn out and only the very basic are provided. The hotel does not provide breakfast.
Lobby area has an unpleasant smell (coming from the drainage just outside the hotel main entrance. Hope they could do something about it as it’s not appealing at all for the hotel.
We stayed for 2 nights but no housekeeping was done. No hand towels, only 2 bath towels that looks very old though still clean.
Staff at the reception counter were quite helpful.
On the whole, for the price it’s still worthwhile.
CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown
We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.
Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour.
On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time.
The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.
At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.
By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.
At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room.
The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts.
So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with.
The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.
Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself.
Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.
JJohnsonYeohGreat service from the reception, especially Mr. Sri
Restaurants, Chulia streets where most pubs are located are all within walking distance.
A bit tricky to find the hotel carpark as the entrance is under a shop house pillar with BIG word Honda at the side wall
Recommend to walk to Red garden food court, nice food and vibes with performance
GGuest Userthis hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.
