I spend about 130 nights a year in hotels and the hospitality my wife and I recieved at Desierto Azul is world-class! Jose, Manuel, Martha and Roberto, (and Joanna in the coffee shop) thank you very much. It was a pleasure getting to know you all!

Quiet, super ‘chill’, small hotel. Only 4 rooms. Beautifully designed rooms with big bathrooms and comfortable beds. Service is great — the staff is very friendly and helpful. The small pool is lovely and with only four rooms we never saw anyone else there in five days except once. Most of the time you feel like you have the place to yourself. Breakfast options are super simple, fresh juices, including a fabulous green juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, toast, and hard boiled eggs. They also offer a delicious avocado toast. My only recommendation to them is to try to provide other options for those who stay more than a couple nights. Bar service is limited but excellent. The property is filled with amazing cactus plants and is a bird haven. The hotel operates a gluten-free bakery next door, which is popular with locals. The hotel is about 10 minutes outside the center of town and about a 10 or 15 minute walk from the turtle sanctuary which was worth visiting.

We loved our stay at Desierto Azul. We arrived after lots of research and high expectations based on the reviews. We weren't disappointed! A small, cute place. Impeccable design. And genuinely friendly people with great advice on things to do in the area. We had a car, which really is a must here. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the walk to the beach was. It is a quiet sandy road, but it's quiet and the neighborhood is nice houses. The wife felt safe. Great breakfast. Beautiful pool, although a bit brisk in January. Can't wait to come back again!

There are some places/experiences that are so magical and special that a "review" doesn't do them justice. Desierto Azul is that kind of place. My husband and I just returned from an 8 night stay and, from the moment we arrived (actually, before....thanks for finding us, Jose), we were treated like family. Manager, Jose, has great suggestions for places to see and things to do...he steered us to empty beaches, off-the -radar trails, the Cactus Sanctuary and arranged a whale shark tour in La Paz that prevented us from succombing to "tourista tour operators". Oh, and he makes a killer guacomole, mixes a mean cocktail and has stories to tell that will make you wonder whether he is SuperMan incognito. Martha runs the "kitchen". She is one of the kindest persons I have ever met. Don't miss her avocado toast and the green juice! Martha is studying English so we decided that she would speak it to me, and I would respond in my not-so-fluent Spanish. I miss her already and promise that I will be more fluent when we return. Miguel, the night manager, also owns 5 Tacos + a Beer, a great roadside restaurant with live music. Don't miss it. Only 4 rooms....Ours, Nopal, was lovely. The bed was huge, firm and so comfortable. The handmade shampoo, conditioner and body wash smell divine and are worthy of taking home....in volume. Organic coffee and tea in the room. Thank you all. Our vacation was perfect because of you. We will be back!

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this hotel. We had been torn between two properties in Todos Santos, but really glad we chose to stay here - however, a couple of things worth noting. The hotel is some distance out of town. We did walk it, but even at a pace you're talking 45 minutes. There's no Uber, but there are a few taxis, which will cost about £8 each way. I do think they should invest in a couple of bikes (or better still, e-bikes) even if they charge to rent. It sort of defeats the object of being so eco friendly when you then have to drive everywhere. The other thing to note is that there are some new properties overlooking the hotel, so it was not quite as isolated as I had envisaged in my head. That said, I still found the place to be calm and calming. We had the largest, twin bedded, room as I was traveling with a fried, so we needed two separate beds. To be honest, I'd seriously consider this room even if traveling as a couple, as I think there are benefits to it over the other rooms. For example, it’s the most secluded, so we would wake up each morning and fling the doors wide open whilst still in bed, knowing no one would walk by. Waking up like that every morning was a wonderful experience, and something you can't do in most hotels. The rooms were spotlessly clean and it was great to have drinkable water from the tap. The included breakfast offers a small, but tasty, selection of bits to start the day. There are a few bars and restaurants nearby, so you don't have to go into town. I would strongly suggest asking the host for his recommendations. The sushi place he suggested (Palmas Del Pacifico) was amazing, as was the street food fish taco stand (Tacos de pescado "El MAR AZUL") he told us about in town. Note, that a lot of restaurants in town seem to close quite early - 9pm ish - so don't leave it too late to eat. The pool area is a really nice space, but I would have liked the pool to have been heated. There is a lovely beach within walking distance, and they provide beach towels. Being so small makes everything seem more intimate, which I really liked, but it may not be for everyone. There were some lovely, like minded, guests staying when we were there, and having so few people seemed to make it more sociable.

My boyfriend and I just spent five nights at Desierto Azul, which is a magical hotel in the magical town of Todos Santos. With just four rooms, its small size makes it feel more like staying with a friend than at an impersonal hotel - but a cool friend with an amazing design sense. The rooms have chic minimal furnishings and showers lined with gorgeous tiles, and are spotlessly clean. The delicious breakfast is served outside on a terrace overlooking the pool. The managers and staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful with anything from restaurant recommendations to arranging surf lessons. The hotel is located a few minutes north of Todos Santos, making it easy to access the beach. A five-minute walk down the hill across the street leads to a long, empty stretch of beach where there are baby turtle releases in winter, and whales and mobula rays swim close to shore. This was our second visit to Desierto Azul, and we can't wait to return!

This place is truly amazing, the staff were lovely and helpful. Nothing was too much bother, Jose, the manager is a wealth of information about Todos Santos. The pool is incredible, the rooms super comfortable and just a joy to be in. I would definitely recommend this place, stunning!

We booked Desierto Azul 6 months in advance as part of our honeymoon trip. The aim was to stay somewhere for a week, and totally relax, having spent the previous 2 weeks sightseeing and exploring elsewhere. Well, we can confidently that say this hotel ticked all the boxes for us. The room was spacious and relevant amenities were provided. The bed was HUGE, and it was such a pleasure to be gradually woken up each morning by the birds and the morning sun peeking through the curtains. This positively added to the feeling of connecting with nature in the desert. The staff were first class. Jose being so knowledgeable and friendly, giving us the feeling that we were at home, as opposed to staying at a soulless hotel. This hotel has character, soul and the staff truly bring this to life. The other members of staff also fulfilled their roles with the same personal touch that absolutely justified our decision to stay in this tranquil boutique hotel. With only 4 rooms at the hotel, it means you generally get to enjoy the breakfast area and pool to yourself. Additionally adding to the feeling of being a home. You can be confident in enjoying the pool in peace, to relax and unwind! The breakfast is filling and healthy, where you help yourself to toast, condiments, fruits, granola and yoghurt, whilst Martha also makes a stunning avocado on toast, Mexican style. It was so good that we ate it every day! Overall, if you are after a ‘boutique hotel’ experience, such as a true personal touch, homely environment, and relaxing atmosphere, then we believe it’s a no-brainer to stay here. We discovered the best local beaches, restaurants and bars through the staff’s tips, and we enjoyed our morning and evening chats with them. It’s worth mentioning that you’ll need to have a car, as whilst restaurants are within walking distance, it’s not advised to walk after sunset. There are no pavements or lights on the roads.
