The Tongue hotel is a wonderful old and atmospheric hotel in the very north of the highlands. Very welcoming and of very high quality and class. Staff were great, food was exceptional and overall location is excellent for touring the far north.

Our stay at Tongue was simply a one-night stopover which was excellent in all respects. Of particular note were the range and quality of food available on dinner and breakfast menus. Additionally, the atmosphere in the dining room was welcoming and relaxed, and throughout our short stay, all staff were communicative, helpful and eager to make our visit as enjoyable as possible. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

You will get a warm welcome and attentive, well trained staff but this is an old building and it's not warm. We would have appreciated a blanket in the room, when we asked, we got an additional duvet. The room was small and the bathroom/shower also very small. The restaurant was good quality and there were good options for breakfast again with very attentive staff.

Excellent service at dinner with a variety to offer on the menu. We were treated to a delicious starter and main with generous portions that only left room for us to share a dessert. Every course was tasty and a reward after a long trek on the hills. Friendly staff and lovely surroundings.

Lovely hotel. By far it’s best asset were the staff who were all very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. A special shout out to the two New Zealand guys who work (extremely hard) at The Tongue Hotel. Their upbeat can do attitude and sense of humour made this lovely hotel a pleasure to visit. The food, dinner and breakfast beautifully cooked and plenty to choose from. (Fish and chips amazing, I should know I live in Blackpool and it beat anything I’ve had there.) Spotlessly clean and decor in keeping with what you would expect in a Scottish Highland hotel. Only one small suggestion (not a complaint just a recommendation if the manager is reading this.)…The lighting in the bedrooms (we had two different rooms during our stay) was very dull with underwhelming lamps, so if you wanted any sort of decent lighting then the ceiling light needed to be put on which was equally lacking. Get some warm cozy lamps in the rooms to show off the lovely decor, and give enough light, hope you don’t mind me mentioning it, just a suggestion. Look very much forward to returning. Many Thanks worth every penny.
