La Tonnara di Bonagia Resort

Not worth the money!!! The aesthetics of the accommodation and our room is nice enough however, the aircon didn’t work properly so the room was roasting at night. coffee machine and kettle provided in the room with a note advising you get 2 free coffee pods and thereafter you have to pay for the coffee pods. NO complementary water or any water provided in the rooms at all. For the money paid it is definitely NOT worth it. Our room has very thin walls and could hear ever bit is noise from the rooms next door, including their voices. They advertise FREE WIFI but the WIFI didn’t work throughout our stay. When we asked about the WIFI they advised it wasn’t working and couldn’t tell us Anything more. Food wise - breakfast was included in our room rate. Not an overly great choice / selections. They had no almond or soy milk. And coffee was from one a self service machine. Staff need to work on this customer service skills everyone always looked miserable and unhappy to be there. The only really nice thing I can say is that the pool area was nice. Overall so disappointed.

HORRIBLE RESORT!!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL!!!! The room was full of mold and the bathroom was very old and stinky! After a room change the smell in the bathroom was even worse ,we paid a lot of money to get a very poor treatment. Outside there was a very bed smell and the patio of the hotel was full of stray cats.... Beside the hotel there is absolutely nothing in the area....really an horrible place!

WARNING please don’t stay at this hotel, it is a con! This hotel is not worth your money! It is incredibly overpriced, with hidden extra costs everywhere! Additional cost to use the hotel facilities (pool etc), extra charge for clean towels each day, extra cost to use the kitchen in your room…. The pricing is just the start of the problems, the rooms are impossibly outdated for the price. Very rundown and worn out, this hotel is certainly not a 4star, I would suggest not even worth a 3star rating. The bathrooms are terribly old and small. The management is obnoxious, rude, arrogant and is extreme need of customer service training. Whatever concerns we presented to her she simply spoke over us and ignored us and acted exceptionally smug. In the end we were promised a call back later in the day to help fix our concerns, this was five days ago now and we’re still waiting, assume that call is never coming.

Please do not waste your money and go here, this is more like a campsite than a hotel, but they still charge the price of a very expensive hotel. The family apartment is appalling, extremely dated, the bathrooms are pretty much unusable for a family with young children as the shower head is fixed and the cubicle is so small. The furnishings are extremely dated and warn, the doors don’t close properly and everything is in need of a total renovation. Please don’t believe the photos! Maybe some rooms have been renovated, but we saw no evidence of this ourselves. We had booked for 3 nights but left after our first night. When we explained why we were leaving the manager was extremely rude and inconsiderate and made no effort to try and help us. The room also has a kitchen, although we weren’t planning to use this I heard another customer ask reception is it normal for there to be no washing up liquid in the kitchen - their response was yes it’s normal and if you want to use the kitchen you will be charged an additional €40 for the cost of cleaning!!!!! After already spending over €400 a night for the room this seems ridiculous. You also have to pay additional fees for access to the facilities - also another €40!!!! Please don’t consider staying here with your family, there are so many better options.

Superb stay in this gorgeous quaint hotel in Bonagia. The reception staff were so helpful and kind and made us feel like we could ask for anything. The breakfast buffet became a bit of a fight in the morning, but learning more about the Italians around a buffet, we couldn’t eat during the dinner buffet dinner either for this reason. No shade on the staff, but if you’re going up against this beast then get your elbows greased. The pool area was superb as was the beachy area. Room was clean and beautifully decorated. Our view was absolutely stunning, overlooking the small fishing village, courtyard and we could even see Erice on top of the hill. Desperately romantic and the perfect way to end our trip. Nice pool and you can go directly into the sea from a platform. The room was very dated and old fashioned - needs updating. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was ok. There is a pizza van in the evenings in town go there for fabulous authentic pizza in the evening.
