Viceroy at Ombria Algarve

We enjoyed our stay for an extended weekend in Viceroy at Ombria, which felt more like living in a small Portuguese village (with luxury apartments) rather in a traditional resort. Rooms, service and restaurants at the village were top notch. We played some golf. The course has a lot of variety with beautiful scenery across the valley during many holes. If your swing is rusty, be prepared with a lot of balls though…we ended up ordering some more from caddie service towards the end. There are also other activities around with a short drive. Our choice was to try horseback riding. Thank you for the hospitality and looking forward to our next visit!

We were staying in Viceroy at Ombria Algarve 3 days in the end of March. This hotel is located in picturesque landscape in the middle of rolling hills, not far from Loule. It looks like a local village with several white villas and market square tower. There are several restaurants, bars and cafes and everything they serve is fine dining quality. My room, which was located in the ground floor of 3 storey villa, was large and had all amenities I could wish. Even as welcome a bottle of local red wine and pastel de nata pastries. On the terrace of the room I could listen birds' singing, it was so quiet. There were a lot of activities to choose, we chose a 3-hour off-road quad bike safari. A lot of fun, mud, splashes and speed. Afterwards a refreshing dip in to the hotel's swimming pool. All was very positive including the staff.

Our first trip to Portugal wanted to stay in a luxury authentic Portuguese location, away from the built-up areas, but near enough to make use of all the Algarve has to offer. The Viceroy at Ombria did not disappoint... From the moment we arrived at this hotel, to the warm welcome, we knew we had made the right choice. The property is simply stunning with lots of locally made authentic products to give this a uniquely Portuguese feel. Our accommodation, a deluxe valley view with a balcony, was lovely, a huge bathroom with a large freestanding bath and separate shower room. The outside balcony, large, and we enjoyed our evenings, sitting out on the balcony, sipping a glass of wine watching the sunset. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the accommodations, with only a couple of rooms per floor, it is very private and quiet. Within the rooms, a huge comfy bed, lots of storage space, lots of space to store your luggage. We really loved all the high-end touch screens to control the lights and ventilation and the authentic locally sourced Portuguese products. We really enjoyed the breakfast at the Ombria Kitchen, a lovely selection of hams, cheese, pastries, and fruits, oh and the freshly squeezed orange juice, divine. We also had a couple of evening meals. They made every effort to meet our dietary requirements, and the food and service again was superb. Service from the staff throughout was excellent. They really went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasurable one. Thankyou

Ombria Algarve is a great place to visit. Not just for golf players but also for people who just want to relax and enjoy good food. We went for walks in the area, did stargazing, and joint the complimentary yoga classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So enough to do if you want to spend a week in the Algarve.
