The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was of good quality, and the transportation was convenient. The front desk staff were very welcoming, and the shuttle bus was punctual and on time. It's a Holiday Inn that's very suitable for layovers. Although the hotel decor isn't luxurious, it's not as run-down as some reviews claim; I'd say the facilities are actually well-maintained. The only negative experience was with the shuttle bus driver in the morning. He just stood at the bus door waiting for tips. If he had helped with luggage, a tip would be deserved. This guy didn't even get off to help; he just tidied up the luggage rack on the bus, and then extended his hand to help steady us when we got off, all while expecting a tip. That's a bit much. You should provide good service to earn a tip, not just hold out your hand without doing any work.

The service, amenities, and dining all meet a certain standard. It only takes about 25 minutes to drive from the airport to the hotel, yet the hotel is located in the city center. I stayed in room 408 and initially thought it might be noisy being on a lower floor, but it turned out to be quite good. A special shout-out goes to Ms. Monira from housekeeping; whenever I returned, she had already quietly tidied and cleaned the room perfectly. What's even more impressive is that she would arrange my belongings according to my habits, which is incredibly thoughtful and personalized. She is a very responsible and meticulous employee. I will definitely choose Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown Centre by IHG again next time I visit my daughter in Toronto.

The biggest issue with this hotel is that you have to go through a barrier to check in. If you haven't booked the hotel parking, the staff at check-in will be quite grumpy with you. This means you have to pay $4 per hour if you don't exit the parking lot within 15 minutes of passing through that barrier before leaving. This time frame is too short to check in, bring your luggage up, and then get out of the parking lot. The carpets in the room are due for a change.
