The only pro about Vanjaka B&B was its location, but the list of positives ends there. The rest was an absolute disaster. Where do we start? The list of cons is so long, bullet form is probably best for easy readability: A. Host was not reachable prior to stay. The only listed phone number in our reservation and on the listing was a number that was not in service. When we asked the host why this was the case, he said "this is my wife's number," which we don't think was truthful. Either his wife's phone number is not in service or he is unreachable. He also did not provide us with ANY email instructions of any kind about anything related to check-in. This was problematic because as we approached the madness of downtown Trogir by car, we were left in total confusion with many bags to unpack and nowhere to park or even idle. Having no way to contact a host is highly unprofessional. B. The B&B is attached to a restaurant which the host also owns, and we were greeted by the restaurant workers smoking cigarettes on the B&B steps. They were unhelpful to our questions. C. Airbnb is attached to and located above a hot, noisy kitchen. The heat rises to the B&B in a noticeable way. You also must enter and exit the B&B room by passing through the restaurant kitchen which is a boiling mess. D. Arguably false advertising. This stay was listed as a "Triple Room" but is simply one room. Our family of 4 barely had room to breathe. E. Very poor AC. There is one air conditioner in the so-called "Triple Room" which was grossly inadequate. Layer this on with the Trogir summer sun and the rising kitchen heat, and you get an instant disaster. We felt almost no effect from the AC. After we complained to the host Marko, he insisted that the AC is "good" and that in 1 hour the whole room will be very cold. Well... we kept the AC on for the entire 48 hours of our stay, and let me tell you, he must have a very interesting definition of the word "cold." My children were barely able to sleep during the two nights of our stay in part due to the heat and also the noise (more on that in a bit). We also note that even if the AC worked as the host described, he should have left it on to cool the room prior to our arrival so that we did not walk into a sauna (which again was not helped much by the AC anyway). F. Cold showers. We kept the hot water switch on for our showers which is supposed to heat the shower water, but each shower had at best two minutes of hot water, followed by cold water. If I had wanted to douse myself with cold water, I could have purchased a bottle of Jana from Studenac Market for 1.28 Euro and spared myself the cost of the stay. The only thing worse about the shower were the sandpaper towels... G. Sandpaper bath towels. These were easily the roughest, hardest, worst quality towels I have ever had to use since my excursions to Eastern Europe during the 80s. It almost provokes thought as to how valuable this sandpaper might be in the hands of a

The rooms were fantastic, and the host was very helpful. There was a delightful balcony with the room. My only complaint was the breakfast; it is offered at a restaurant nearby, and was a choice of 4 dishes that were not very good. Very greasy and based on eggs and toast. Be aware that the bells of the cathedral will wake you up very early…

Unfortunately I spent just two nights in this cozy and charming accommodation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I truly enjoyed my time here and meals. Everything was just perfect. I recommend this accommodation if you want to spend a few days in the unesco heritage city.
