For breakfast, we ate our fill of local cuisine made with ingredients from Shonai, gazing at the rice fields swaying like waves in the breeze and Mt. Gassan towering beyond. The large public bath, which is equipped with an open-air bath and sauna, is also surrounded by rice fields, so you can relax and unwind while feeling the pleasant breeze. You can drink in the lounge, but we had local beers, a session IPA and a pale ale, in our room.

The inn was nice and the open-air bath was wonderful. However, the site guide said that breakfast was buffet style and I made a reservation, but when I checked with the front desk, it was explained that the buffet style was abolished after Corona. Thanks to that, my 10-year-old daughter couldn't take what she liked and eat it, and for breakfast I only ate clam miso soup and salad with ham. Very disappointing. The guest room is also described as a guest room with a river view bath, and the photo of the guest room bath was nice, so I made a reservation, but it was very disappointing because it was a completely different bath. Ordinary narrow cypress covered with walls rather than view? Of course, I didn't use it just because it had a bath, and I enjoyed only the hot springs. Not only access to the station but also close to the Esmall bus terminal was very convenient. This time, I used it to go to dewa Sanzan, but I was grateful that I could go without delay. It was even better that there was a hot spring and I was able to heal my body fatigue. Breakfast was a buffet and I was eaten firmly from the morning!

The hotel was well-cleaned and I had a pleasant stay. The front desk staff were also friendly and pleasant. The air conditioning was not individually adjustable, but it was fine when I stayed there as it wasn't that hot yet. I wondered how it would be in mid-summer or mid-winter. The rooftop bath has a great view and is the best. I've made a number of comments, but if you're on a business trip to Tsuruoka City, this is the only place to stay.

Small and clean, but the air vent kept making weird knocking noises throughout the night and there's nothing the staff could do to fix that. Seems like those knocking noises came from the wind backflowing into the vents or something? Couldn't get a good night's sleep at all. Nonetheless the staff was very patient with my questions. There's a public bath on the first floor, but it's disappointingly small with only four showers, and the onsen pool gets crowded with only five persons in it.
