Our one-night stay at Ngulia Safari Lodge was truly unforgettable! The lodge offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, and we had so much to see right from the lodge itself. The wildlife sightings were incredible, making the experience even more special. The staff was warm and welcoming, the rooms were comfortable, and the food was delicious. A perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in nature,we highly recommend it!

Review of Tsavo West National Park Our visit to Tsavo West National Park at ngulia was an incredible adventure! The park offers a mix of attractions that kept us engaged throughout. We explored the Shetani Lava Flow, an impressive black lava field with a unique landscape and fascinating history. We also visited the Mzima Springs, where we saw hippos and crocodiles from the underwater viewing chamber. The Chaimu Crater provided stunning panoramic views after a short hike, and the Roaring Rocks lookout gave us a breathtaking perspective of the park. We even managed to spot elephants and buffalos during our game drives. Tsavo West is perfect for nature lovers looking for a blend of wildlife and scenic landscapes.

The plus points are that elephants visit the water hole on a regular basis. On the negative side there was no electricity for much of our stay, so no wifi. We had to use our mobile phones as torches at dinner because it was far too dark to see the food. This we expect is deliberate so that you can not see how bad the food is. We were part of a large group and many of us had diarrhoea for a few days after the visit. The toilet in the gents had no seat . Yes the rooms are very basic, dated and tired but this could be overlooked. The lack of hot water for handwashing and electricity for fridges presumably contributed to the poor hygiene standards. Other safari camps can provide a decent service but sadly Ngulia have fallen short.

Worst experience in a lodge in Kenya. We got room 9 directly near the reception. Mosquito net was not safe, beds and bedsheets were from 50 years ago and seemed filthy to us. Lights above the beds were not working. There was nothing in the room which would make your stay comfortable. Beside this, when we came late for dinner, the ‚reserved‘ table had been taken and they couldn’t provide a table, so that we had our dinner at the bar. To me that is even more annoying since we were in this lodge two years ago when the room and the stay had been fine, though we knew that the lodge has low standard, but there is still a difference between low and lowest standard.

We came here in june 2024 as we had heard about the leopard feeding program they have, and yes, they do put a bone out for the leopard to eat! The hyena also came by for the scraps after the leopard had finished.Which was amazing to see. It also has a watering hole that attracts elephants and buffalo. We were a party of 3 and were the only guests at the time so the attention we received was very good , the food left us a little disappointed. Our room was very disappointing as it appeared it had not been updated since the 70s, we asked to move rooms and they are all the same! Tsavo West is plagued with tetsy flys and other nasty biting bugs, so bear this in mind and keep covered up, we had to keep windows and roof closed on our morning drive as it was horrendous, tsavo east and amboseli don't have the bugs west does.

I‘d have never chosen it as it‘s not really our type of lodge we would go. Our driver booked it and it‘s more on the cost sensitive/ low budget side. The food was average but the people working there from the concierge, reception to restaurant staff was super cute and utterly friendly. I have to join the comments about feeding wildlife. Hanging a piece of meat to get to see a leopard shouldn’t be done. Even if it has been always done. This should stop as animals should be in wild finding their own meal and cannot support this way of getting a „highlight“ for guests. The respect for rules should be a minimum given. The beds have been clean and the rooms cutely done.

Beautiful old lodge built in 1969 needs a few updates. First the positive - beautiful location with exceptional elephant, buffalo and leopard viewing. Awesome food. Room isn’t bad but new mattress and pillows needed. Mosquito net appears to date back to inception and doesn’t reach floor by at least six inches with holes in it. Definitely need a new net installed in rooms. Super great staff.

The property is extremely run down and needs a major make over. We had more bugs inside the room than outside. Due to it being low season there is as no electricity during the day nor ac in the rooms. On the plus side, the staff are very friendly. I would like to thank Wendy for pointing out the Leopard. You do get a unique experience by seeing the elephants in the back garden & if you're lucky the leopard.

Nice rooms, lovely beds. Loved its strategic location. My second time here. Proximity of the hills fantastic. The attraction of wildlife close to the lodge great. The safari lodge should think of Tv screens in those rooms. It can be of great significance to group tourists like students. As an eco friendly destination they should tap into solar energy and stop the use of generator which has limited timings. They should consider entertainment room for visitors. You know ways of prolonging visitors to stay. Otherwise it’s a lovely safari lodge in the middle of nowhere. Mr. Wanyonyi
