Valamar Tamaris Resort

We had an amazing holiday. My kids (14,12,1) also found lots of activities to do. The youngest loved Maro club and the workers made the experience even more enjoyable. One worker especially (Nives) always gave 100% The two eldest enjoyed the gaming centre. Lots of consoles and plenty of games to play. Also the worker here (sadly i cant remember her full name. tomka…) which my daughter loved spending time chatting all things games. Although the lunch/dinner situation was very busy the food was good and even picky eaters found a good variety. We definitely enjoyed our holiday and highly recommend it. We are looking forward to rebooking for another time.

The location is very out the way, with not much to do outside the resort. Limited choice of food for young children (apart from pizza/pasta) The holiday was more of a 'relax by the pool' holiday. Rooms very basic and when asked if I could have a fan in our room as the aircon wasn't working great, I was told no. However...The resort itself was lovely and clean, and the kids entertainment was great! Lovely staff. The kids pool was lovely and warm.

What a beautiful setting. I can honestly say we had a wonderful time. The food was lovely and there was plenty for the whole family. I will return and I don't say that about all my holidays! For improvement The drinks. Awful cola and the cocktails so weak and lacking flavour It was such a let down when compared to the food. We bought coke to have vodka, rum later in the day. The queues. The food was wonderful but the waiting was quite awful. Such a shame really as the staff work very hard. The hotel is dated but well cared for and very comfy mattress . Pillow a bit rubbish.

We are still here and wanted to write a review while it was fresh in our heads. We are British, and a family of 4 (kids aged 10 and 14). It was about an hour and 15 mins or so to the resort from Pula airport. Check in was great- the staff speak SO many languages I was in awe. We booked an interconnecting room (212 and 213) and they were ideal for our family. The rooms are kept really clean and are cleaned daily. There is a relaxed pool as well as a fun pool with a slide so something for everyone. For the first time in my life I witnessed highly attentive pool staff remove towels from sun loungers that weren’t being used! First they put a letter on the sun loungers then about half hour later I saw the pool staff remove the towels. How refreshing to see! The restaurant was enormous. We went in the school summer holidays so the hotel was full to capacity. The food range is absolutely huge. Food is cooked right in front of you such as meats, pastas, pizzas and fish. As this hotel does not have many British customers, naturally they cater for a much diverse range of preferences(in the car park it was mainly Austrian, German, Italian, Slovenian Swiss, Czech, and Hungarian cars). This is no criticism at all, in fact becuase it was so diverse in the way Valamar has to cater for type of visitor it meant we tried all sorts of food (although my 10 year old is quite fussy so basically stuck to pizza and chips and cucumbers oh dear!) but we had all types of fish, meat, salads, risottos, weird and wonderful European dishes) So if you’re expecting a full English breakfast, pies etc you won’t get a decent one here. Nor will you get sandwiches or a cup of tea after breakfast time so you’ll just have to go with the flow! The location of Tamaris itself is quite isolated, it’s like its own village really and there aren’t really any towns, villages or marinas to walk to. That said there is lots to do, free cycle hire, a little land train service that takes you around Lanterna and some of the other resorts, there’s an inflatable obstacle course and a games area with PlayStations and Xboxes. The beach area is lovely, the lobby area with all the drinks is lovely. The staff are professional, helpful, and keep the place so clean. We were very impressed. We had THE BEST first time in Croatia.
