Delightful - an excellent experience! The hotel and staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in the middle of town but just down a side street. The lobby & lounge area is quiet, comfortable and cozy and the in-house bar (open in the evening) adds to the cozy, inviting atmosphere. The heated ski room and lockers are on the main level just inside the front door (very easy access). The breakfast is very good and after breakfast there's usually a basket of croissants on the front desk for a quick pick-me-up! YUM!! Our room (for 2 people) was rather cramped but comfortable and adequate. The hotel has a number of larger "family rooms". There is a small "spa area" on the top floor with a sauna & steam room (hammam) that is open in the late afternoon/early evening. It's very nice and rarely crowded - a nice amenity after a day of skiing. We would definitely stay here again! They also have a very nice restaurant - Tavern of the Alsace - that is downstairs. Hotel guests have a special "back door entrance" key on their keyrings to the elevator!

The Kandahar is one of our favorite hotels in Val D'Isere. This cozy mountain hotel is nestled right downtown and just steps away from the skiing. The service is very hospitable and the included breakfast was exellent. The Kandahar is hard to beat value.

I’ll begin with the positives. 1. Lorna: if Carlsberg’s did reps, Lorna would be an ice cold pint on a hot day. (You can almost imagine how the first sip tastes). Enough with the beer metaphor's, she is very well connected & efficient with any desires you may have. Meeting Archie made our trip. 2. The cleaner: honestly, we gave this cleaner a few challenges. She was put through her paces to say the least but my god, she done well. Very proud. I think Kim Woodburn maybe doing a season in Val. 3. Location, location, location - love it or list it. Kirsty & Phill would list this. 4. The boot room: if you thought Lorna was special, wait until you visit the boot room. The negatives: 1. The lift smells like poo 24/7. 2. Breakfast: at breakfast they provide activities. Spoiler alert: it’s a scavenger hunt to find cutlery with no clues. BYOC (bring your own cutlery) this hotel runs this policy but ironically you need a straw to eat their scrambled eggs. We did ask for the recipe, apparently it’s 1 egg to 1 cup of sick. 3. Restaurant: if you’re looking for a delicious meal after a hard day skiing, do not use this restaurant in the hotel. To conclude, I would definitely return, albeit, a bedroom on the ground floor to avoid the lift would be desired.

We just had a few days here. Booked last minute so didnt know what to expect. This hotel is lovely, right in the centre so walking distance to everything including the slopes. More important than anything though were the staff. All so lovely and friendly….even when we left at 5am!

We stayed here as a family of five,over the Christmas holidays. The hotel was beyond our expectations - the rooms in the hotel are delightful being a real good size for Val. Breakfast plentiful, staff very welcoming and location perfect with easy access to main Gondola. The hotel does not have room service however there are many good restaurants in walking distance and a fabulous bakery opposite.

Great hotel with super friendly staff. Rooms are high spec for 4 star and nice little balcony. Really good lounge are Al downstairs if you fancy a more relaxed apres ski. Breakfast is self service but good selection and amazing patisseries. Central location on the main high street and short walk to ski lifts. Would stay again

We stayed here for a week in February half term. Our room was tidy and clean with a warm chalet feel - plenty of storage and balcony looking onto mountains. The boot room was great, with heated boot racks. Breakfast was nice, no warm food but their was a good selection of continental and pastry options. The location of the hotel is great, right in the centre of the village and a 5 minute walk to the main gondola area in Val d’Isere. Overall a great hotel for a really reasonable price and we would definitely recommend this hotel

Excellent accommodation, great service. We had a huge room, really comfy and well appointed. Great location, in town and couple of minutes from the lifts. Half board and ate in the restaurant under the hotel. Food was amazing, as was service. Drank at Le Garage and Yule. Snow amazing, just perfect.

Fantastic hotel! Can’t fault anything. Staff were brilliant, location was ideal and our room was exceptional. Very clean and had everything we needed. Wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend. Well done and thank you Hotel Kandahar team!!
