Stunning building, amazing food, elegant service; this Inn goes back 500 years and the smell of the meat cooking in front of the open fire is bewitching. The architecture, the cobbled floors, the ancient well, the river which flows underneath the Inn are all available to see. So while you drink and relax, your become embodied with the building as you sink into the history of the site. Sit back, relax and let time stand still while you enjoy local traditional meals and the finest beers and wines in luxury. The calm atmosphere is enhanced by the knowledgable staff (who provide excellent service) and also by the gentle background music which is chosen to transport you back to medieval times.

Obviously cold A dish at 26 euros is served with a portion of fries and a handful of salad in a bag bathing in oil The tension between the servers is not palpable but totally liveable We did not risk the desserts, already too much costs incurred for this poor quality

The hotel is an old building very well renovated. There is a medieval feeling in the room and hotel. The location is quite central, in the parking garage opposite there is parking at acceptable prices. Very good as parking is otherwise a real problem. The breakfast is worth the money, the service friendly and good. Overall a nice stay.

Clean hotel, comfortable bedding Spacious room Very well located in the center of Valenciennes with several restaurants all around Very pleasant and smiling welcome in the morning which is not the case for the evening reception. The rooms are not air-conditioned and are really outdated, they deserve a good renovation. A small bottle of water is always appreciated as well as a desk and a chair to be able to work there
