Valladolid 48 Hotel & Hostal

Good location and fun cooking class, but the noise the second night we were there was absolutely awful. Massive party on practically just outside our room until past 1am inside the hostel. Signs are everywhere saying no noise after 11, I went to reception to complain when it got past one and no one was there, the staff were at the party. Eventually someone came out to talk to me, they were drunk, they did turn the noise down after this but never apologised. Was a bit ridiculous. We also paid to get our washing done through the hostel and got it back as we left, we just put it in our bag packs nd later realised it was still very wet, all our clothes smelled of damp. We were not the only people this happened to, friends we made said the same thing. Ridículas we had to pay for washing and it not to be dried. We will have to re wash everything.

All was perfect, staff was amazing, fun activities, room was so clean. The staff were very nice, but the kitchen was a disaster, and there was a squatter living in a tent next to the kitchen in the common area. I guess the staff allowed her to do that, which they shouldn’t have. All around not a good hostel, thank god it was cheap!

Cons: -Dirty washroom/Dirty rooftop kitchen. Don't think anyone is cleaning from the hostel. -Bad smell in the dorm room due to humidity and lack of aeration? -Can hear everyone outside of the room. -Slow-filling toilet tank, so sometimes you can't flush it. -Our dorm room was beside the rooftop kitchen, people hang out there all night. So it was difficult to fall asleep early. -Not many places to hang out while it rain, as most of the commons area are outside -Water puddles form in the hallway during rain. Drain clogged ? Pros: -Water refill available by donation -Activities organized by the Hostel everyday -Locker provided in the dorm room -Breakfast included: Scrambled eggs (mexican style), cucumber, watermelon, toast/jam and beans -Nicely decorated with Frida Kahlo quotes and color. -Friendly staff, 24 hours reception -A/C available in the dorm room -Located in the center of Valladolid. -5 mins walk to the ADO bus terminal

This hostel check in was a nightmare, with too many of booked to one room. And then our group of girls had two male employees come into our dorm at night time to rearrange our room, explaining in broken English that they overbooked the hostel and we needed to have people sleep on mattresses on the floor! The toilets had flooded and the tiles had puddles of toilet water. I was better off not showering until I left this place. I did not feel my belongings were safe here. Dorm doors couldn’t be locked!

The hostel is located near the centre of the city. The rooms had a slight odd smell, I think the AC caused dampness. But the hostel has a nice kitchen and area to hang out. There's a nice pool and friendly staff. The events they put on were great, but should be more of them! The staff were also really helpful in planning my cenote visits.
