This was my first trip to Fiji, and I went for the diving on Rainbow Reef. The positive reviews of the resort, the staff and the food/drinks are all accurate. This is truly a magical place that is perfect for those seeking peace, quiet and tranquility. I can highly recommend The Remote Resort. However, there is also something very special about its 'on site" dive operation that not everyone writes about. This resort also offers a concierge scuba and snorkel operation that is custom tailored to meet the expectations of its guest. With multiple boats, knowledgeable crews, high end gear, all of your needs are accommodated. Wilson, the Team lead, has created an operation like no other I have experienced. His commitment to safety is greatly appreciated. His knowledge of the Reef system is unbelievable. Moreover, his attention to his staff and the guests is sensational!!! I would go back today!!

We spent 1 week at The Remote Resort and it went too fast! We had an excellent stay!We would like to thanks Graeme for the Open Water of our son. We did some very nice dives (colorful corals and tons of fishes) thanks to Wilson! We appreciated his knowledge of the environment and the currents. The entire diving team was really nice. We had such a great time! A big thank you too to Helen, Vilisi, captains Kim and PK. The food is delicious and diverse! Applause to the kitchen team! The staff is friendly and attentive. Thanks to Sia, Ili, Valeria and Faye for their kindness. We enjoyed going to visit the village of Vunikura! People are really nice and our son had a lot of fun with the kids from the village! Vinaka to the entire Remote team!!

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful 6 nights at The Remote Resort. All the amazing reviews you read are true. This place is a gem. It was our first trip to Fiji, and I've wanted to go for so long. (I had originally booked for 2020, which had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.) Weather: We were there in the rainy season (last week of March), but got incredibly lucky. For the first 5 days there was not a drop of rain. It was beautiful, sunny, fluffy clouds, and a gentle breeze to lessen the humidity. I kept commenting that the air felt silky. I actually was a teeny bit disappointed that there wasn't any rain, because I wanted the chance to experience a tropical shower there. And then, just like that, we did in fact get afternoon/evening showers the last two days. Perfection. Staff: They are just the loveliest people. So warm, so kind. They make you feel like you're a guest in their home. Maria at the bar makes amazing drinks, and she just has the most beautiful smile. Faye carefully and expertly helped me cross over rocks during our hike, and guided us on our snorkeling trip to the Rainbow Reef. Illi was so helpful in every way. There are many more people...they are all wonderful. Villas: I opted for the oceanfront villa (the ones without air conditioning) because I wanted more of a rustic, traditional feel. We absolutely loved it. The lack of a/c was not a problem at all. We had the overhead ceiling fan, and we were very comfortable at night. I loved the plunge pool, and our view from the deck and inside the villa was gorgeous. Food and drinks: Delicious. And the best part is that every night for dinner, they set each couple's table in a different spot. It's a surprise each evening. We would go to the bar before sunset, have a drink or two, chit chat with other guests (and the owner Dan, who was there the first few nights), an then when we were ready for dinner, we would just let the staff know, and they would lead us to a beautifully set table. Activities: We did two snorkeling trips, and it was the best snorkeling I've done (and I've snorkeled around the world.) We also really liked the Taveuni Insider hike to the waterfalls with a stop at the waterslide afterward. I didn't do the waterslide because I bruise easily and it looked like I'd come out of it black and blue. But my husband and another couple did it, and they all said it was fun (and not painful). The best part was seeing these three little local boys diving and doing back flips into the water from the cliff. The stand up paddling at the resort was also fun. Spa: I booked the Ultimate Spa package, and I'm really glad I did. Every treatment was bliss. I could go on....it was truly one of the best vacations of my life (maybe the best).

This is the most exciting and important invigorating vacation my husband and I have been on. We came to Remote Resort from California after a stressful previous year. Living in traffic and on top of one another in albeit beautiful Newport Beach. We travelled from LAX via Fiji Air business class (lovely flight, good food and drink with a very clean plane and highly attentive staff) and then raced over to the Fiji smaller terminal for our internal and flight. We were delayed 5 hours by a huge rainstorm. Turned out we could have slowed down a bit in getting over there. Then you take a boat to the resort. Note: Do not bring your LV or high end leather luggage as it is going to get wet and no one will care what you are carrying anyway! After a beautiful arrival which I will let you experience and won’t spoil the surprises, we rested for the rest of the day. Over the next 4 days we snorkeled everyday thank you Vileesi and Kim. Vileesi snorkeled with me everyday and actually held my hand in difficult current and made sure that she showed me everything there was to see that I surely would have missed. We had so much fun snorkeling, eating, drinking, laughing and hanging out with our new staff family. The food is so delicious and is not , not American processed, chemically enhanced food. It is fresh, home grown, cooked to order food like we are supposed to be eating. Our American bodies go through a period of food detox I think and you will leave this resort with a finer palate and more appreciative of fresh, healthy food. The rooms are clean clean clean! Amazing air conditioning and the house reef was better than any I saw anywhere else. Everything is so alive. It was a real awakening for me of what Hawaii probably looked like 75 years ago. This resort brought my husband and I closer as there is nothing to do at night except listen to your own music and talk and entertain each other. Outdoor shower was pristine, not a **** in sight! Kim and Valeesi made sure we did a new part of rainbow reef each day and went to some fabulous new beach and ate great picnics with my hand made Mai tais. We cannot wait to go back next year. This was too good of a place to not continue the exploration of amazing Rainbow Reef and I can’t wait to get back with our new friends! Love you all at Remote for making our time Amazing❤️John and Kristi

The most incredible trip I’ve ever been on. I can’t say enough incredible things about The Remote Resort. Incredible staff, incredible accommodations, incredible staff, incredible grounds, incredible house reef, incredible food. The effort to get there is in the name but the plane, car, and boat trips were well worth it. Everything was incredibly clean and well maintained. Any wear and tear is due to the proximity to the water. We spent our time snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The coral and fish are incredible. The reef is expansive and full of life! We saw sea turtles while kayaking and snorkeling! We didn’t have a meal we didn’t like. I HIGHLY recommend the green papaya salad. We’re going to recreate it at home! The daily cocktail was always delicious and I highly recommend all of the local beers. The staff make every effort to keep you from lifting a finger and are ready to assist you in any way at all times. We were able to enjoy coconut water from fresh coconuts they knocked down! I highly recommend walking the beach to look at shells and sea glass, walking the property during the day to see the beautiful flowers, and walking at night to see the toads and bats! I especially enjoyed my morning coffee on the dock where I got to see a reef shark swimming around. We’d love to come back!

This resort checks SO many boxes! The people absolutely make this resort one of the most memorable trips we have ever taken! Everyone, and I mean everyone, is amazing. From our first interaction with the boat crew to our final at the dock upon our return - each and every person was kind, caring and genuinely amazing. Elie, Zoe, Marisa, Sia, Valesie, Maria, Graeme, Kim, Wane, Wilson...every single person could not have been more excellent. These staff members made my trip without a doubt. The grounds are manicured and beautiful, the accommodations are comfortable, the food is delicious and varied. The Scuba Diving is the most amazing underwater experience I have ever had. Graeme, Kim, Wane & Wilson give a true concierge diving experience - which was flawless!! The beauty of the Rainbow Reef cannot be understated, it is simply amazing. I cannot number the different fish type we saw, nor can I begin to describe the beauty of the reef!

I would have rated this hotel 4-5 stars had they not advertised themselves as luxury. If our experiences at the hotel were not wonderful, I would have rated this hotel as a 1-2 since they advertised they are a luxury, boutique resort. Our first impression of the hotel was being picked up at the airport in a regular sedan (4 people in our party, so we were squished together) with a broken windshield. Now I realize we are on Taveuni, and replacing a windshield might take a bit of time, but I have the impression it is rather just not a concern. When we arrive at the wharf to board the boat, there is no easy way to get down to the boat. We had to precariously drop about 4 feet into a boat that happened to be secured to the dock and then transfer into our boat. This boat is a quite utilitarian boat and looks nothing like the boat on the website. On the way to the resort, the motor nearly failed multiple times due to a leaking fuel line. One of the hotel employees had to hold the line together during the trip. As we drove past the dock of the hotel, I hoped that we were passing a neighboring hotel as I looked at the pier that was in disrepair and did not look like it would last another season, but that was not to be the case. When we arrived at our villa, we noticed the decorative deck covering in front of the pool was detaching from the deck, the cables on the railing were no longer tight, there were weeds (not small, new weeds) growing in our shower area. As we left the villa for dinner, the door handle fell off. After dinner, we got to experience the lack of hot water. We had some lukewarm water which did not stay that warm long enough for 4 people to have brief showers. The wooden pathways around the resort were in need of maintenance. While we were encouraged to take the trail to the lookout, a good portion of the trail had not had the grass cut in a long time and the seating at the top was covered in algae/mildew. The second day of our stay, the pool started to look cloudy and green. The pump was not working. There were two boats used for transfers and tours. Both could use some maintenance. The one which did not pick us up the first day is going to lose its windows soon if it continues to lose nuts and bolts. The other issue with the use of boats in a luxury stay is that boats should only be used to transport guests when guests are on board. They should not also be transporting supplies for the hotel and appliances that need repairs. These are all management issues. The staff is lovely and truly wants to make your stay amazing. They are friendly and hospitable; however, many of them are from villages which do not even have electricity. They have no concept of the Western expectation of luxury. This is not their fault in any way. The manager should be setting expectations and supervising. I have no doubt this was once a beautiful luxury resort, but those days are long gone. If you are not looking for luxury and do not care to have a few d

The Remote Resort Review The magic began as out boat transfer neared the dock of the Remote Resort. There to greet us were six to eight Fijian staff happily singing a welcome song accompanied by stringed instruments. It was a vacation in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. We soon fell in love with the caring, hardworking and gracious workers who were determined to give us an unforgettable vacation week. They were definitely successful! We were introduced to a ‘Wonder of the World’ as we snorkeled at the ‘Garden of Eden’ area of the Rainbow Reef, a boat ride away. There a kaleidoscope of thousands of diverse and colorful schools of tropical fish entertained us as they swam amongst each other. Snorkeling off the Remote Resort dock was also rewarding with sightings of numerous exotic fish. Our comfortable accommodation was called the Remote Retreat and was surrounded by lush vegetation and coconut trees. It was a peaceful, secluded haven with scenic views of the ocean, a refreshing plunge pool and a private outdoor shower. A highlight was the exquisite cuisine we enjoyed each day. We consider their delectable meals the tastiest we have had between six different Fijian 5-star resorts we have vacationed at. We highly recommend the Remote Resort for adventure seekers who like comfort in a beautiful setting away from crowds.
