My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful 6 nights at The Remote Resort. All the amazing reviews you read are true. This place is a gem. It was our first trip to Fiji, and I've wanted to go for so long. (I had originally booked for 2020, which had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.) Weather: We were there in the rainy season (last week of March), but got incredibly lucky. For the first 5 days there was not a drop of rain. It was beautiful, sunny, fluffy clouds, and a gentle breeze to lessen the humidity. I kept commenting that the air felt silky. I actually was a teeny bit disappointed that there wasn't any rain, because I wanted the chance to experience a tropical shower there. And then, just like that, we did in fact get afternoon/evening showers the last two days. Perfection. Staff: They are just the loveliest people. So warm, so kind. They make you feel like you're a guest in their home. Maria at the bar makes amazing drinks, and she just has the most beautiful smile. Faye carefully and expertly helped me cross over rocks during our hike, and guided us on our snorkeling trip to the Rainbow Reef. Illi was so helpful in every way. There are many more people...they are all wonderful. Villas: I opted for the oceanfront villa (the ones without air conditioning) because I wanted more of a rustic, traditional feel. We absolutely loved it. The lack of a/c was not a problem at all. We had the overhead ceiling fan, and we were very comfortable at night. I loved the plunge pool, and our view from the deck and inside the villa was gorgeous. Food and drinks: Delicious. And the best part is that every night for dinner, they set each couple's table in a different spot. It's a surprise each evening. We would go to the bar before sunset, have a drink or two, chit chat with other guests (and the owner Dan, who was there the first few nights), an then when we were ready for dinner, we would just let the staff know, and they would lead us to a beautifully set table. Activities: We did two snorkeling trips, and it was the best snorkeling I've done (and I've snorkeled around the world.) We also really liked the Taveuni Insider hike to the waterfalls with a stop at the waterslide afterward. I didn't do the waterslide because I bruise easily and it looked like I'd come out of it black and blue. But my husband and another couple did it, and they all said it was fun (and not painful). The best part was seeing these three little local boys diving and doing back flips into the water from the cliff. The stand up paddling at the resort was also fun. Spa: I booked the Ultimate Spa package, and I'm really glad I did. Every treatment was bliss. I could go on....it was truly one of the best vacations of my life (maybe the best).
