The location is good and the hotel is just fine. Need some renovation around the path leading to beach. Many opt for this location for ease of access to beaches, if that is not maintained it will lead to disappointment.
The SPA is not per the expectation and the maintenance of the spa is very bad. Food is above average. The buffet breakfast is fine but lacks variety for those staying longer. Overall it was a good experience. The attender at the pool Mr. Babu is very good, he should be awarded for his fine service. Overall the hotel staff are polite and well mannered and hear to our concerns.

Excellent Hotel with excellent services. The managers and staffs kept us very comfortable and most importantly accommodated to our toddlers meals during the stay. Very beautiful view as very peaceful hotel!

It was average. The main highlight was pool and the staff. Breakfast was awful very average considering it was taj's unit. The resort is big and lush. It's under renovation currently and I would say not the best of stays during our Kerala trip.

Sylvan surrounding with lot of greenery around, stay was very pleasant. Excellent service with helpful and friendly staff. Delicious food. Very nice spots to visit nearby. Hotel has a very good travel desk to hire vehicles for visiting tourist spots. Housekeeping service is excellent . Dining facilities at the restaurant and in room are very good .

Staying at the Gateway Varkala was an amazing experience from the friendly staff to the authentic decor and the amazing views of the Arabian Sea. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Every guest was treated specially by the staff from Reggie the concierge to Ashwathy at reception, Sudeep head of security and Dhamesh the general manager. I have stayed at the Taj cove green in Kovellum which is beautiful also but the staff here at the gateway really make it feel like home away from home. A special thanks to the staff and chef in restaurant who were so polite and efficient, producing so many wonderful local dishes.

Very near to the beach to go and enjoy sunset. Ambience is very good with lush green and well maintained campus. Hospitality was excellent and services of staff specifically that of Sri Reji, Smt Aswathy & Smt Mridulla were outstanding. Overall it was a very unique experience.

Our stay at Gateway Varkala was truly special and filled with warmth, all thanks to the amazing team there. Right from the moment we arrived, we felt cared for. A special thanks to the chef, who went out of his way to prepare customized dishes for us, respecting our sentiments and making every meal feel like home. The food was not just delicious — it carried a personal touch that meant so much to us. The kindness of the staff touched our hearts. When I mentioned my father’s knee pain, they immediately arranged a different room that was easier for him to access, without us even asking twice. Their thoughtful actions and genuine care made us feel like family, not guests. Thank you, Gateway Varkala, for making our vacation not just comfortable, but truly memorable. We look forward to coming back!

Room was clean and tidy, staffs were very welcoming. Had a lot of spa services. The hotel also had a direct connection to the beach which was convenient. Had a memorable experience at the pool with my family. Breakfast was good. Checked out very smoothly.
