Hotel Galleria

For a one star hotel, this is a fabulous hotel. Great location right on the canal. We found our room to be very clean and as depicted in the photos available online. The best part was Luciano. He went out of his way to help us by making a call to Italo to book us a new train after ours was cancelled and initially rescheduled to an inconvenient time. His customer service went well beyond what was necessary and we so appreciated it. Because of this outstanding service, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Loved my four nights here. My single room was small but had everything I needed and the most wonderful view of the Grand Canal. I arrived in the evening when reception was closed but the entry instructions were clear and easy to use. The location is fantastic - vaporetto stop nearby, 5 minutes walk to the stop for the airport boat, 15 minutes walk to St Mark’s Square - and Dorsodouro, where the hotel is located, was a great area to wander around. There are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants nearby - recommend breakfast at Laguna Bar on the water, just a few minutes from the hotel.

A lovely old hotel in a wonderful location. Only a few things are worth mentioning. The bedroom was large with an amazing view of the Ponte dell'Accademia, and the the view is beautiful but because it is right next to the Ponte dell'Accademia, the vaporetto goes very late, well after 2am. That means that the loud engines whirr regulaly into the night. It also means you are very close to the vaporetto stop and the Gallerie dell'Accademia museum, which is a must if you are an art lover. Also worth mentioning, is the bathroom was very small indeed. The last thing worth mentioning is that the desk is only open until 1pm. That means you have to arrive early, and there is no real help after that- a phone number, which is lovely, to call- at any time but it is not quite the same.

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Galleria. We had booked a standard double but were very kindly upgraded to a larger room - room 10. It was incredible and so romantic! I would definitely recommend booking room 10. The location is perfect - very easy to find and really well located for sightseeing. We had a beautiful view of the grand canal from our windows. The bed was very comfortable, a great shower and beautiful surroundings. You can hear the boats on the canal at night but that is the same anywhere on the canal even the 5* hotels! We had earplugs and slept very well. I really recommend staying here and for the price the location is unbeatable. Great places to go for coffee and food all very nearby.

Completely charming. A hidden gem. Sitting in an armchair by the hotel room window watching the boats float past, you feel as though this is a home from home. The owners of the hotel are so welcoming and unfailingly helpful. And you are right in the heart of the Dorsoduro - much the nicest (and less touristy) part of Venice. It’s simple - but that is what makes it so authentic and special. Room 8 was magical. We will definitely return.

Location, location, location! What a fantastic stay right on the Grand Canal at the Academia ferry stop. Great hospitality. Great room with a view. Loved our stay so much my wife’s sister cancelled her hotel in Piazza San Marco and rebooked to follow in our shoes and endorsed our love of Hotel Galleria. None of the usual restaurant, bar or souvenier shop in larger hotels but all of these are available on the doorstep in abundance. A classic Venetian experience not to be missed.
