VOI Wildlife Lodge

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was beyond disappointing. The entire place is outdated, poorly maintained, and simply not worth the stay. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority. The room was dirty, I had to clean it myself just to feel somewhat comfortable. The bedsheets and pillowcases had visible stains, and the mosquito nets were full of holes and smelled terrible, making them completely useless. We ended up battling bugs all night, which left my children traumatized. The bathroom was no better. The shower was filthy, and the shower curtain looked like it hadn’t been washed in ages. It’s shocking that a place in this condition is still operating. The only redeeming qualities were the pool and the staff. The pool itself was nice, but the pool beds were old and rusted. The food was decent, but they recycled the same meals for both lunch and dinner, which became monotonous. Despite everything, I have to commend the staff—they were kind, welcoming, and did their best under the circumstances. Unfortunately, good service can’t make up for the horrible state of the hotel. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Stay elsewhere if you value cleanliness, comfort, and a decent night’s sleep.

We stayed one night as part of a 2 day safari. The hotel is a little dated but its clean, being the most important thing! You could hear next door and there is no air conditioning in the rooms. The beds were comfy enough although I am not sure I would have wanted to stay more than a couple of nights in it. If you are there on full board your option is buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner only with a separate pizza restaurant available at additonal cost. The lunch was great with plenty of variety but the evening choice was considerably smaller and not particularly great. The hotel has a couple of swimming pools and an infinity pool that overlooks the watering hole. If we had more time, I think it would have been a perfect place to take a swim whilst watching the numerous elephant, buffalo and hippo just meters away! My husband was a little disconcerted to come face to face with a spitting cobra as it came out of mens toilets near the bar area and fortunately the security guard was on the case to move it away from the guest area. The hotel is listed as a 4 star probably because of its facilities but it does need a facelift and is more of a 3 star. However, I would stay there again, just for the views! Its only a 15 minute drive from VOI SGR station so I would recommend a stop enroute from Nairobi to Mombasa

I have stayed so many times over the years and I am always delighted to return to such lovely staff who always make you feel so very welcome, my room is always ready for my arrival, the buffet food provides something for everyone and I am a fussy eater as were my children when younger and with me on our holidays - the pools are immaculately clean, housekeeping go over and above cleaning your rooms and will provide extra bottles of water etc if required, never let down seeing the wild life and this really is my go to happy place, thank you to everyone for making my friend feel so welcome on her first trip to Kenya, she will return, also thank you for my gifts, already miss what I now call my Voi Wildlife family -

My wife and I had a delightful overnight stay at Voi Wildlife Lodge. The lodge is perfectly situated, offering stunning views of the Tsavo East landscape and a watering hole where we could watch wildlife right from the comfort of the lodge. Our room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained, providing a perfect blend of comfort and connection to nature. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist, which added a personal touch to our experience. The meals were excellent, with a variety of delicious options to choose from, and dining while overlooking the wildlife was an unforgettable experience. Overall, our stay was peaceful and rejuvenating. Voi Wildlife Lodge is a great choice for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Tsavo East. We highly recommend it and hope to return soon!

Was very good. Beds werent too comfi and food was modest, however good. Bar small. Pools were good. To be fair , we visitied in low season and they are currently doing renovations and some parts were closed off. Friendly but ok. View and balcony was good.

Great place for family and friends. Budget friendly and good location. Can get very hot during the summer so can add air conditioning in most rooms. The room and bathroom is a decent size. The staff are very friendly and are really to help at all times. Tsavo East national park entrance is very close (about a 7 mins drive) while Tsavo West is far (about an 1 hour to 1 hour 30 drive). Good food and great curio shop. Has the history of the mean eaters of Tsavo which was very fascinating. Very green during the wet season and just beautiful stunning views all around. Can the the watering hole from mostly all rooms which is a big part of the lodge. Can get lucky as see elephants and small birds come to drink water during the summer. They have three pools, one big main one near the pizzeria, one infinity pool overlooking the watering hole, and a small one. Great place overall.
