I shall preface this review by saying I had an overall nice time, but there were a number of things that took the experience from what you would expect for a 5-star hotel down to what I would consider a 3-star+. Before I delve into the negatives, Blue Water Hotel experience had some definate positives. The rooms were lovely, and the view from the balcony was to die for. The all inclusive buffet had plenty of selection and the quality was for the most part what you would expect from a 4/5 star hotel. The majority of the "lower tier" staff (those outside of management) were generally very nice and for the most part helpful. There were a number negatives that left the experience feeling a somewhat subpar, with the general theme being that it feels like the hotel hasn't upgraded any of its processes since it opened. Firstly, the staff seem fairly incompetent with their jobs. The bar staff, as nice as they are, take what feels like an eternity to serve you a beverage, on a number of occasions I waited at least 10 minutes for a single draught pint of beer. There seems to be plenty of staff behind it, but most of them seem to be dealing with other things. This brings me to one of my observations, most of the guests are "all inclusive" and are required to wear a wrist band but they still require you to sign a printed receipt for every order. Firstly, this doesn't make any sense from an "all inclusive" perspective, we have the wrist bands, why do we then still have to sign for the drinks? Second, this system means that every time any guest orders a drink, the bar staff then proceed to spend what feels like 5 minutes printing the receipt seemingly unable to assist other guests whist this takes place I strongly feel removing this requirement would not only improve the efficiency of the bar's (keeping guests much happier) but save wasting an unbelievable quantity of paper in the process (come on guys, let's keep a few trees in the ground!!) My second negative, is that the hotel needs some definitely TLC. The rooms, although very spacious and premium, are showing their age. The veneer on my wardrobe was coming off, and the silicone in the bathroom was looking like it had gone 12 rounds with a prime Mike Tyson. We also had an issue with our shower where by the drain was blocked and the water would fill up and spill out into the room. This bringing me to my another point, the management staff are completely useless at simple tasks when calling from the room. We called reception on a number of occasions to report the shower issue and they said they would send someone to fix it, safe to say they never came - therefore my partner and I were left to shower for about 45 seconds each or risk causing a red weather flood warning in our room. My final negative point, which by the end of the holiday was driving me crazy, was the pool staff who were obviously hired with a required skill of "proficiency with pyrotechnics". They would spend all day setting off fireworks to
