Amazingly generous host providing an abundance of food for breakfast plus a delightful offering of local cheeses, olives, dip, crackers and wine to enjoy by the fire in our cottage on arrival. I have never come across such generosity in a B&B! The cottage itself was spotless and tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed amidst interesting antiques and artworks. All this in a peaceful location where nature could be appreciated. The sunrise view over the valley from the ridge at the back is Devine.

Lovely cottage just outside Watervale. Delightful host, comfortable quality accommodation and facilities. Breakfast provisions were lovely - the fresh bread was to die for. Tranquil, just perfect rural SA, great base for touring the Clare Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, our only regret is we didn’t stay long enough. We voted this the best accommodation we stayed at in our tour of the region, thanks for having us!

Stunning rural retreat from which to enjoy all that the beautiful Clare Valley has to offer. The traditional cottages are cosy, spotlessly clean and comfy, each with its’ own private veranda to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility, whilst sampling the extremely generous locally sourced provisions (including freshly homemade bread upon arrival!), and stare in awe at the spectacular night sky! A massive thank you to wonderful hosts, Kerry and Mark, for so generously sharing their paradise. We hope to return very soon!

I often travel to the mid north of SA for work, and I have just stayed at Battunga Cottages for the third time. From the moment one opens the front door, inside each of these cottages you'll instantly feel embraced in a warm hug. Every detail has been considered- from the individually themed cottages decorated with an eclectic mix of furniture, divine bedding ensuring a good night's sleep, and a curated bevvy of locally sourced delights which will allow you to sample local produce whilst immersing yourself in the ambient surrounds. You'll see and hear sheep, and some local kangaroos, and will have the kookaburras laughing at you. You'll leave better for the experience of having stayed here, I promise! Until next time, Kerry and Mark! x

Set in a terrific location for exploring the Clare Valley. Warm and pleasant with an atmospheric and efficient wood fire, and comfortable furnishings. Generous, fine quality breakfast provisions. Just to note that these aren’t free-standing cottages but four individual units under a single roof. They are quite private though, with their verandahs facing different directions out over the landscape. We enjoyed our stay.

We loved Battunga the first time we stayed last year and weren’t disappointed when we returned for two nights last week with two friends from the United Kingdom. The charming cottages are located in a lovely rural setting replete with the occasional passing kangaroo (much to the delight of our overseas visitors). The cottages are really well stocked with plenty of provisions from the local area, and Kerrie is a warm and friendly host. We’ve stayed in many places with a 4 or 5 star rating around the world but they don’t always live up to expectations. Battunga certainly does - it’s up there with the best of them.

We have stayed at quite a few cottages in the Clare Valley area, but our most recent stay at Battunga Cottages has been the stand-out. The location is perfect - a short walk to the ridge above the cottage and you are right on the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail. The award-winning Watervale Hotel is 5 minutes away by car. In the other direction is the picturesque road to the Blue Gum Lookout and the walking trails of the Spring Gully Conservation Park, one leading to the Cascades waterfall and panoramic views to the west. We stayed for two nights in the one-bedroom Kookaburra Cottage (a kookaburra visited us on our last morning), which was very generously supplied with a fruit basket, grazing basket, with dip, olives, cheese etc, and bottle of local wine, as well as WARM homemade bread and all one needs for two hearty breakfasts - fresh eggs, bacon, tomatoes etc. The wood fire was all ready for us to to light, with plenty of spare logs and was very effective which made our stay even cosier, keeping the cottage warm all night. Thanks to owners, Kerry & Mark for their kind and generous hospitality.

A stay at this magical place will not disappoint. Convenient to Watervale, but with the seclusion I craved. Stocked with generous supplies of local produce, all I had to do was unpack, relax, and pour myself some wine whilst I sat outside at sunset and enjoyed nature at her finest. Superb visit, thanks. Might even bring my husband next time!!! :)
