I booked a reservation with the lodge and had to cancel unfortunately because of a death in the family. I called the lodge about a week after the fact and told them my situation and was insured that I would be able to receive a credit to their lodge. I then called about a month later to redeem that credit and they told me they had no information on their side about any credit and told me there's nothing they can do for me. Horrible management, do not trust this establishment!!!

We hadn't been to Black Bear Lodge in 20 + years and the negative reviews were a concern. Don't let the reviews fool you. This place is still awesome. We stayed in room 512 which was furnished nicely. It was very clean. Beds were comfortable. The amenities (pool, hot tub, game room, coffee in the lobby and access to the Athletic Center) were great. The lodge was a quick walk to the Town Square too. There we found several good restaurants. We loved having bus access to the slopes and the quick walk to ice skating. Our biggest like was the friendliness of the staff. Everyone we met was so helpful and welcoming each time we returned back from an activity. We will definitely not wait another 20 years to return. Go! Stay there! You will love it.

We stayed here for a hockey tournament and rented 10 suites. Every family had a great time. All the rooms are updated differently but every room was fine. Full kitchen, dining and living area and separate bedroom area. Walkable or quick minute drive to the adorable town square that has shops, restaurants, a general store for all your needs, and the ice arena. If the pool or hot tub is closed the Athletic center is a quick 2 minute drive and is included in your stay. You could spend hours in there. The staff at Black Bear were very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend for a vacation or hockey tournament (the town hosts a lot of them)

Disappointed. Dated facilities. Arcade is coin op with poor options for obtaining coins. Pool is advertised on website, but apparently it has not actually been open for some time. Staff not helpful. My advice is to go elsewhere, especially if you have kids.

I wish you could give this place zero stars because that’s what it deserves. To start of the pool was so gross. It was full of gross bugs dead and alive and smelt so bad I could barely walk in without feeling sick. Another horrible thing about this place were the rooms. First off, it smelt so bad. Like I would rather be at a dumping ground than that room. They didn’t even have room spray! Also not to mention the beds are hard as rocks and it’s impossible to go to sleep. My last thing about the room is that it the heat is so bad because if it’s hot and you turn the temp down it will go to like negative 40 degrees and it’s horrible. Oh and I’m warning you! You better not run inside or outside the hotel because you will get talked to by the evil Karen at the front desk. Shiver me timbers! Also if you don’t go to sleep than one of the ten evil Karen’s that work there will call the cops on you! Trust me, she did it to me and my entire hockey team. She’s crazy. NEVER stay here because if you do be prepared to have the worst experience of your life.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Starting off with the room, it smells like old people and barf combined, room spray is a must. Second of all you might as well sleep on a rock because the beds Are hard as wood. Another thing, beware of karens. If you slightly run you will have to be talked to about how there is old pregnant people there. Also make sure you go to bed by 9:00 or else you will get the cops called on you for not going to bed by the lady at the front desk. The pool is also nasty, it smells even worst then the rooms and it has random bugs in it. Worst place ever

I was happy with the cleanliness of our suite The beds were comfy! Finally! The lodge was a safe and friendly environment Walking distance to shops grocery and coffee shop ice arena Pool and hot tub was excellent And last but most important was the staff! The minute we arrived dawn greeted us Like family, let us put our 5 bags and suitcases in the office until we were able to check in and we went to get coffee in the meantime. TV was easy to use, netflix right there, internet no problem, didn't even need to use guest password. When we got home we realized my husband left a very sentimental personal item in the room, 2 days later! And when I called I spike with Lisa she was confident it would be located and that she would be able to ship it to us if/when found. And it was found! They shipped it back to us and Jim called personally (the GM) to say they would not be charging us the shipping cost due to the fact that it was a sentimental item and they just were glad yo get it back to us. Unbelievable! Best experience I've ever had all around at a hotel /lodge. Gold metal all around for the black bear lodge and Dawn, Lisa & Jim! Thank you so much. Rose & Ben

I don't even know where to start. We were up in Waterville for a hockey tournament over MLK weekend. We had almost 40 rooms (that is a lot of kids) booked for our organization and every single one of our families were treated like family. All the staff were understanding, helpful and kind. Every morning Dawn would check in and see if we needed anything, see how our night was the night before and helped to make sure we felt like her family. She personally hand washed my white sweatsuit because it was stained beyond repair and I went to the front desk to ask her for some advise and she said I've got this, and did she ever! Every night Steve would check in and see how we were, if there was anything we needed/how could he help. He took his personal fan out of his office to cool off the conference room because our dance party was getting too hot. Front desk Michael was always so kind and helpful when we can to ask him for help because we locked a key in our room or needed more toilet paper. He would end all conversations with no problem glad I could help. Not once did we feel like we were a bother. There were over 90 people in our group between players, parents and siblings. Each and everyone one of us know Dawn , Steve and Michael. The way they greeted us, checked in with the players to see how their games went, lent a helpful hand and helped us have the best time we possibly could have! Dawn, Steve and Michael went above and beyond with every once of our trip. No words could thank them enough or explain how truly appreciative we all are for them! I am already missing my stay there. We can't wait to go back!

The accommodations were excellent, location and services. The staff went over and beyond expectations. Extremely helpful offering special help for someone in my party with an injury. Bus service to mountain was a plus!
