We spent 5 nights at Waya Island Resort to celebrate my birthday. It was low season, so with 3 or 4 other couples at the resort with us, we felt like we were on a private island. The resort had a lovely ambience. The bures were very comfortable with effective air conditioning which was needed for the humid weather. All meals were excellent, a la carte, lunch choices are made at breakfast and dinner choices are made at lunch. The delightful staff surprised me with singing and a birthday cake. We had a couples massage which was very good. Daily activities are available, we did the reef trip twice, just 10 minutes away by boat from the resort near the local village. The reef was extensive, healthy and colourful, the trip well run by the staff. There is a house reef at the resort, approximately 100 metres away from the shoreline, accessed via a deep channel, from the smaller sandy beach. The main beach does not have a sandy bottom, it is rocky, but is swimmable at high tide, best to wear sturdy reef shoes (or similar). The resort pool was lovely. We would recommend this resort to couples seeking privacy and relaxation, quality meals and comfortable accommodation in lush tropical surroundings.
