The inn is a nice getaway. We stayed in the Woodland room which is large & comfortable. However we had a very disappointing and very expensive meal for dinner. I would not suggest eating there.

Very enjoyable stay this week. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room was very nice with a deck facing the mountains. The innkeeper gave us great insight into how we should spend the days. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was very good and a wide time to come down to eat. Absolutely no complaints and a perfect place to get away.

The Iris Inn was founded in 1991 which is probably the year the Inn bought the saggy king sized mattress in our cottage. It was the most uncomfortable mattress I’ve slept in. Couple that with the stink bugs that flew all around our cottage and the place lost its appeal. The location is beautiful and the staff is friendly. However, for $500/night we expected better accommodation. We will definitely find another place to enjoy fall colors in the future.

We were looking forward to our stay, but were quite disappointed. The view from the cabins is awesome and our cabin felt safe and clean, but unfortunately that's about it. There's a massive hot-tub on the screened in porch that keeps you awake most of the night with its noisy heater/engine. The heavy highway traffic noise outside didn't help one bit either. The room lacked character (felt more like a motel, actually). There's a tiny closet to hang clothes, and virtually no drawer space. Lots of space is taken up by a well-appointed kitchen and a washer dryer. I'm not sure why that's even there; I don't go to an (expensive) inn to cook meals and do laundry. Dinner offered at the inn was borderline inedible, and the dining facility - again - felt like that of a Holiday Inn Express. For the considerable price of a 2-night stay, there are many more inns to choose from in our beautiful State. We certainly won't go back.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in the Hawks Nest suite at the Iris Inn. The room is beautiful and the views of the valley is amazing. We sat in the hot tub several times and to a nice walk on the well marked blue trail. Both breakfast were absolutely delicious. The restaurant is not always open, but we did have biscuits, soup and cheese and fruit delivered to our room. Along with having a fireplace on it was the perfect way to spend the rainy afternoon together. Our dinner on the second night was a beautifully prepared special occasion that will stay fondly in our memories until we can return. Even though the weather did not allow during this trip, we hope to have a campfire in the fire pit next time we return..

My husband and I chose to celebrate a recent special anniversary at the Iris Inn. We had been guests in the past and loved every minute our our stays and would heartily agree with the many 5* reviews on Tripadvisor. I even wrote one of those glowing reviews myself. We really looked forward to our stay on the upper floor of the main building, with a large window and direct entrance to the balcony where we could watch the sunsets from the comfy furniture there. Alas, the building’s exterior was being scraped and painted at our end of the building, which meant, in addition to the noise, that much of the balcony furniture was, either piled up in front of our window (day 1) or removed entirely (day 2). Also our window was completely covered with a large shade, and the view we had treasured — gone. When we approached the staff person on duty, no apology was offered; we were only told (twice) that the painters had been due in April but had just shown up in July, and “we couldn’t turn them away.” This person seemed totally oblivious to the effects of the project on certain guests. I’m not saying our stay was ruined, but that certain aspects of it were significantly less than desirable. We clearly did not get what we had expected — or paid for. So I decided to write to the owners, who had not been on site, to plead our case and ask for acknowledgment, understanding, recompense, something. Instead I have gotten nothing in the 6 weeks since I wrote, which is the reason I am posting this on Tripadvisor. I had hoped to avoid doing so. Quote from the inn’s website: “We will do everything we can to enable you to make the most of your time in this spectacular location.” It’s not too late.

Wonderful experience! Beautiful setting and views from expansive front porch and tower. Stayed in the Woodland room. High end, unique furnishings. Very comfortable and well equipped from the plush robes, to the beautiful wine glasses and eucalyptus spray for the shower! Breakfast was a real treat, made right right in the open kitchen: delicious quiche, rosemary biscuits, scones and fresh squeezed orange juice. First class all the way!
