Weligama Ocean Breeze

Went for a stopover before the airport, even though it was monsoon season we still had a great time in Weligama and Marissa. Beach access, pool, great food, shops nearby and good spot to walk to restaurants. Amazing service from the team, thank you 🙏🏻

I booked this hotel based on positive reviews and I was very disappointed. I had upgraded prior to arrival having read about inconsistent WiFi unless in deluxe rooms. I would not describe my room as deluxe at all compared to any other places I have stayed in in Sri Lanka for a lot less money per night. The room was dated, there were no tea making facilities (despite the listing saying a kettle) the mini bar was expensive. There was an overpowering strong smell in my room, I don’t know what it was but it gave me a headache, it may have been what they used to clean as other areas had the same smell but better ventilation. My shower would not stay fixed, the WiFi did not work well at all, there was no soundproofing and some guests were very loud. I was booked for 4 nights but stayed only one. I actually found somewhere significantly more luxurious for a lot less. The staff seemed confused I would want to leave, nevertheless they assisted me well and were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was nice and there is good choice, although would be nice to have a fruit plate and juice not either/or. The pool area is nice but small. It is on the main road which my room faced, it is difficult to cross safely to the beach. There is a 3% additional charge for paying by card which is not advertised in advance and payment is made upfront (I had paid before I even saw my room).

This was a really charming place to stay - excellent value for money. Very clean and there was everything you'd expect to see in your room (a safe, updated bathroom, ceiling fan, air-cond - so cold I had to switch it off). The pool is spectacular and the hotel is right opposite the beach. Breakfast was great and staff were very warm and welcoming. Would certainly recommend and come back.

My family (6 of us including a toddler) travelled to Weligama and stayed at Ocean breeze for the just under a week. The hotel is in a great location especially if you want to surf, just cross the road and you’re on the beach catching waves. The hotel itself and service is next to none, especially Nimantha. They go above and beyond to help; we had to arrange extra rooms and stay longer and that was no trouble, they organised us transfers and cars to get around the island at a reasonable rate. The facilities are great. The restaurant is one of the best in Weligama, so even if you’re not staying do try them out. To get a great deal contact them directly. Will definitely be staying again! 😊

The staff makes this place amazing. Always smiling and ready to help you. Amazing breakfast until 10:30 which is great after a morning surf! Location is great, just cross the road and you are on the beach, many places to eat around. I ended up staying here nearly two weeks. It has a nice pool and an area where you can lie in hammocks, sit at a table, or on a comfy couch to relax. Its a nice place but the staff makes all the difference!
