The Wild Coffee Retreat is a run-down hovel post-pandemic. My husband and I stayed here in March 2023 - looking at the photos for this "retreat" (and I use that word lightly), the photos are clearly pre-pandemic photos. According to the sites we reviewed before staying and their official website, they have an on-site restaurant with a full menu and a sister restaurant nearby (the Pelican Lookout), but this is a farce; the on-site restaurant does not have a menu and only serves breakfast consisting of ackee and saltfish with fruit or porridge, coffee, and the most expensive Red Stripes on the island. Their sister restaurant is out of business. Using their shuttle/taxi service is very expensive and is only sometimes available; you can expect to pay them USD $250 for a ride. They over-charged us for everything and didn't take us where we wanted to go. On the first day, we really wanted to check out the nearby Hummingbird Garden, but there was no driver available the whole day. On the 2nd day, their driver, Jonny, didn't want to go to the Hummingbird Garden; he wanted to take us to the Blue Hole instead. We reluctantly agreed, cha-ching; the cost of that trip was an unexpected $250 (not including the price of the Blue Hole). He is a reckless driver and got into a fender-bender on our way there when he stopped to pick up his cousin. The location of Wild Coffee Retreat is far from everything, and it is unsafe to walk in the evening. All rooms were open-air, which was fine, but there was no screen in the bathroom window, which was a problem. On the day that we were trapped at the "retreat" due to the lack of taxi service, we showered in the morning. We opened the window to let out the steam, and that's when we learned about the giant 2" long cockroaches that were now all over the bathroom... The bathroom smelled like sewage as if the toilet was not sealed to the floor. There is no cleaning service here. They advertised a pool, but it's actually an above-ground concrete pit filled with lukewarm, unchlorinated water. Very unappealing; we didn't go for a dip because we weren't open to getting UTIs. We had initially scheduled to stay there for 9 days but left after 3 (and, of course, they kept our money). This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had the displeasure of staying at.

This place is a trap! I stayed there with my partner in March 2023 (planned to stay until April 2023, but just couldn't do it), but was too traumatized after my stay to write a review until now. I’m very sad that my first trip to Jamaica was at the Wild Coffee Retreat. As a Black American, I received disrespectful treatment and was surprised by the lack of friendliness and shadiness. Black folks, don’t go here, you will be hosed. Travel each day cost $250 regardless of where you went, driver drove unsafely and told us to lie to authorities if stopped, he had an accident on one outing. Driver did not take us to requested locations, he stopped to pick-up family along the way. The online photos do not clearly represent how rundown this place is. The room had very large, super-fast cockroaches and a hole in the wall where the TV should be placed. The pool is an unclean concrete pit, not inviting. Items were purchased on drives as if they were gifts, yet you had to pay for it afterwards, on top of the $250 per day. He took us to a place for money exchange that was a rip off. On-site restaurant only served breakfast, very salty fish and over-priced breakfast at $25 USD per day (don’t prepay breakfast, same items each day, and not prepared well). The cool looking café near the cliffs had been closed since the pandemic, but advertised as open on their website. We tried to cancel our 9-day stay, and they made sure we got no money back. Most expensive Red Stripes on the island, and there is nothing to do nearby; unsafe to walk anywhere outside. Things got way better after staying at the falsely advertised Wild Coffee Retreat.

The pictures do not do justice. I was so mesmerized by every inch of this place! Truly a work of art and the owner is so friendly along with the staff. 10/10 will recommend and will stay there EVERY time I go to Jamaica.

We had an incredible stay at Wild Coffee Retreat as part of our honeymoon! The restaurant was closed, but the breakfast was absolutely delicious and very filling every day, and there are other great restaurants and a bar in walking distance from the retreat. The restaurant called Murphy's is close, and I highly recommend checking it out. It's safe to walk around in the area, even after dark. The room was clean and filled with fresh flowers, and we really felt like home here. Make sure to bring enough cash, preferably jamaican dollars as the locals seem to prefer it. You need a car to get to an ATM. We will definitely be back the next time we go to jamaica. The place feels very artsy and authentic, and the staff was really attentive and made us feel safe. An amazing, relaxing break from the other resorts we stayed at, which felt more touristy.

Wild Coffee Retreat is a hidden escape to Zen Oasis. The owner has designed it so the indoor and outdoor flows wonderfully together to create what feels like a luxury treehouse. The staff, the space, and the food made me free at home and comforted. I was also mesmerized by the eclectic artworks on the walls and furniture paying homage to urban Jamaican culture and music. As a student and teacher of yoga, I loved the upstairs common open area for morning asana practice before breakfast. It is a big enough space to hold a yoga class for 10 to 15 people if one wishes to hold classes. I hope to do so on my next trip in a few months. Thank you Wild Coffee for your hospitality and welcoming vibes.

Incredible Artists Haven! I couldn’t possibly describe the beauty and wonder of Wild Coffee Retreat. From the moment you step through the gate, the energy is palpable. Cool tunes in the background, and literally EVERY inch of this place expresses itself with its own artistic wonder. The Lobby is filled with art from local artists. Reggae plays in the background. The walkway to the rooms is covered with a lush green canopy, that lights up at night. It gives the impression that you are on your way to your own magical wonderland. The owner and visionary for the property was gracious enough to give me a complete tour of all the rooms. Each room inspired in its own unique way. Many walls and walkways are constructed with branches from wild coffee trees. There is even a super chill and relaxed lounge area with a plunge pool, perfect for soaking up the sun on a hot day. This was my chosen place for my meditation practice. The staff are over the top accommodating. The on-site restaurant is a prefect space to chill for a while, grab a cocktail, or enjoy a meal. I was here for five days, and had the opportunity to try a lot of what is on the menu. I was never disappointed, but feel I must put a special shout out for the French Toast! I hope you too enjoy your stay, if you ever need anything… all of the staff will work hard to make your stay your way! Joy Heming
