Do not go here. We booked and then read the reviews which were disgusting. This is listed on ********** as a non smoking hotel but as you can see from previous reviewers this is not the case. We contacted ********** and asked for a full refund, they were very helpful but sadly as we had paid a certain rate we can not get a refund. We booked another hotel instead which was wonderful. We visited Portland Lodge the following morning to take these photos , I'm so glad we , two single women , didn't stay here. Broken windows , filthy corridors, piles of what looked like dirty clothes outside a room and then there was the smell, rancid stench was the best way to describe it. And no way was this a no smoking hotel. Stay well clear , we are going to contact trading standards and health and safety as it's just not safe to stay in.

When we arrived we were told that they had a problem with their boiler and the only rooms with hot water were on the ground floor. We were taken through a corridor which stank of cigarette smoke. We were told we were the only 2 in the hotel but as we passed one room the TV was blaring out. The room itself smelt of cigarettes the sheets were clean but were grey. Outside there was rubbish piled up by the window. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast as we were the only people in. We Could have it between 07:30 - 08:30. When we went to have a look at the dining room it was locked. We will never go back to this hotel or Portland. Absolutely no where open to get a meal. After driving around for 3 hours we packed and came home

Arrived to find no one on site, called the number several times and not answered. Looking around for staff I found several broken windows, broken door handles and drug paraphernalia scattered on floors. All carpets filthy and a smell of urine and cigarette smoke. Found other accommodation...Still awaiting call back from place

I don’t mind the fact that the decor is tired and the building needs some repairs but being disgustingly filthy to that degree is inexcusable. Carpets are stained, linen was stained, shower room & toilet genuinely had not been cleaned for a while. I put t-shirts on the pillows as makeshift pillowcases because I didn’t want my face touching the linen! The bedsheets were sticky to the touch so I slept pretty-much clothed. Don’t stay here unless you are desperate. There was a sign saying they want to be “green” so hang up towels you want to re-use but, to be honest, this place has bigger things to address in their immediate environment. On the plus side….they do save energy by not bothering to service & clean the rooms!

First to make it clear this is a budget hotel, rooms, bed bathroom etc as you would expect for a budget property. Prices in this area are more expensive than those inland and further north. My little criticisms were the heating was a bit hit and miss, I know it was June but not the warmest part of the month. The car park was a little restricted by scaffolding and far less spaces than there are rooms. One morning the cooked breakfast was a little light due to shortages.

Run down dump. Reception smells. Rooms basic but just acceptable if pricing was lower. Next to road so some noise but slept through it. Shower temperature inconsistent. Sufficient parking. Definitely one to avoid!

Booked this place while attending a funeral on the island.once I arrived I eventually found a uninterested lady in reception who showed me to my room. It stuck of urine had blood on the bed sheets rat dripping in the floor. I would not have stayed at this place if I was payed to.I left immediately and had to drive home after the funeral. I did get a full refund from ***********. This place is a absolute dive and I can’t believe it’s allowed to trade. Enjoy the photos as proof of this hell hole

Absolutely disgusting makes me feel sick writing this, My partner booked us a double for the night as I was picking my little girl up from her dad's the next day, The man at the reception was a very friendly, showed us up to our room, Well walked in to the room and it absolutely stank, and was very musty, so I sprayed the room with my body spray as it made me gag, It was a family room they had given us with a double and a single. What was wrong with the room, the towels were stained, the single bed sheet was stained as I lifted the quilt up, the double bed was ok, but later on my partner went to get an extra pillow off the single bed and it was all mouldy, the table lamps were thick with dust, could see the damp on the walls. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned as there were water scum marks on the doors, the floor definitely hadn't been cleaned as there was a dead spider in the corner. The carpets all the way through the hotel were stained it was disgusting. We had paid for breakfast in the morning walking through to the dining room it smelt musty and like someone had been smoking. The tables had all crumbs on them, the glasses wear all stained, I poored an orange juice for my partner the jugs looked like they needed a good wash, I had scrambled eggs on toast didn't even eat it was disgusting I had to spit it out, my partner had a bacon sandwich he said his wasn't to bad. Honestly I have never seen a breakfast dinning room so disgusting, flys on the window ledges everything needed a good clean. I never ate or drank anything. Safe to say the place needs inspection and to be closed down, as i honestly don't know how it is still open

Never staying again We paid for the room when we arrived and wasasked when we would like breakfast, the room wasn't very clean dirty nets hung at windows.mold in shower. The dining room smelt of grease and everything you touched was greasy tables were unclean . A lady arrived at 8.15 am took off her coat and cooked breakfast , deep fried sausage bacon hash brown , disgusting couldn't eat it .tea cups were dirty . Beds totally uncomfortable infact I would have slept better on a coat hanger. Woke in the night to use loo and the stench of ******** filled the bathroom . Yes it's cheap but £7 pound for a breakfast that's unhealthy inedible and rank is not value for money . Cleaners need educating on how to clean . The whole place needs an overhaul very tired and run down and no staff on premises if a problem has arisen in the night The place looks like a doss hole Never ever staying again !! Only good thing was its location .
