I have been to Wick three times - twice at MacKay’s and once at another hotel. MacKay’s is undoubtedly the better hotel. The hotel has a faded elegance that can be quite charming, and it is certainly a better hotel than Wick deserves with spacious rooms and a great restaurant. However the decor and fittings are a bit old.

Filthy dirty apartment. Remnants of food all over floor. Very dirty kitchen. Microwave disgusting. Even lights in the restaurant hanging with cobwebs. These rooms had clearly not been cleaned and considering price at over £150 per night it was very very poor value and definitely would not recommend this place to friends or colleagues.

Very nice and traditional Hotel in the centre of Wick. Room was tastefully decorated, and everything was very clean. Food was superb- best steak I have had in years! A good effort at fine dining, and both evening meal and breakfast was delivered by staff wearing white gloves! Friendly receptionist, and little to criticise..

Booked a relaxing weekend in wick, with my wife, after searching we found this gem, the first might food was outstanding and the hospitality was the same, we had another night here and decided to go back, again outstanding food, we asked to speak personally to the chef and thank him for food, such a humble gentleman, will definitely be back, if your ever in Wick you'll not be disappointed with the hospitality and the food, will be back

We had a great two night stay, we were upgraded to a super room overlooking the river and were extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were very nicely cooked and the buffet was nice too. We dined on the first night and had excellent Scrabster haddock which was perfectly booked and accompanied with superb chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas.

Room clean and furniture looked brand new but still had old fashioned feel to it. On a junction so quite noisy ,especially as windows old and not double glazed. Evening meal was very nice and breakfast good also . Ok for a nights stay in around that area

This was a last minute arranged trip to Wick I was made to feel very welcome by the staff who were very friendly,the room was clean tidy and comfortable the and the food was exceptional I had both an evening meal and a Scottish breakfast I will return

We enjoyed our stay at MacKay's Hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, well presented and tasty. The bar is well stocked and provided all the drinks we required. Parking was also available free outside the hotel.
