Great hotel, which was quiet, with helpful and kind staff. Especially Ryan and Alexis, they were extremely kind, friendly, thorough, and helpful. Alexis answered all our questions without making us feel incompetent. Ryan was an incredible gentleman, helping my great grandmother and aunt into our vehicle and closed the door behind them and provided water for all of us. Thanks for the great experience!
We usually like to stay on the beach at Wrightsville but lately the hotel prices there have been north of $600 a night, so we decided to try staying here about 5 miles off the beach. The hotel feels very new and is super clean and trendy/nice in common areas and in the suites. Even the 2 queen bed suite feels very spacious and has a curtain between those 2 beds and the pull out sofa, which didn't have that crumby feel. Nice kitchenette with fuller size fridge and true freezer. The outdoor areas (outside the breakfast buffet area and near the pool are equally nice (pool is on the small side with not alot of loungers for sunbathing). It was nice to have free parking and breakfast buffet although we found the breakfast buffet foods are not restocked that often unlike we've experienced at other hiltons so often out of bagels, etc. The waffle iron needs replaced because it doesn't work properly where the waffles come out easily (even with spray) like they do at other Hilton properties - many had plates of ripped apart waffles. However, it was still nice to have a free buffet and the buffet area is nice so despite this, it was fine and one can always head out to a local restaurant if desired. Pet friendly too - we saw some cute doggos. Had no impact on the cleanliness factor/feeling.
The advantage of the old hotel is that the service standard is guaranteed, the environment is good, the breakfast is good, the front desk girl is warm, and she has been to Beijing, Xi'an and other places in China. The equipment is a bit old.

I have had the pleasure of staying here often over the last couple of years as well as many of my work colleagues. I have stayed at many hotels all over the eastern US but none have compared to this one. The hotel itself is great, rooms are spacious and clean, everything is great.. but what really sets it apart is the people. On my most recent stay, Sam checked me in and was extremely personable and polite. Before me there was a lady complaining about some noise that other guests were making and Sam did an incredible job keeping his composure and talking with her professionally and politely. Most of all I am delighted with Michelle Dillers customer service. As I mentioned, I stay often. On my most recent stay, she went as far as to leave me a goodie bag with a personal note on it. I couldn’t be more happy with this hotel and I would recommend it to anybody!
The staff was really nice. Excellent location to walk to shopping and nearby restaurants. We had a power outage during our stay due to a storm. FYI, there is no generator to power the whole building, so if you are traveling and know it may be bad weather, it's not the best option. Some rooms had AC, and others didn't. Power was randomly on different circuits. It was definitely an interesting situation for all. Luckily, it got handled, and the power came back on before bedtime. We like the size of suites. But many things need to be cleaned and replaced. Our shower curtain smelled terrible. There was tile broken in the bathrooms along the tub. Microwaves and floors were super dirty. The carpets needed to be replaced. Next renovation just ditch the carpets. It's much cleaner and healthier for all. Overall, our stay was pleasant, and time spent with family is priceless, but unless they get a generator and renovate, we probably won't return.

GGuest UserI stayed at this hotel for work a trip. Prior to me arriving, my manager booked my stay and at the time of the booking he stated that the stay should be completely charged on his credit card. The Hampton Inn employee stated because we are with a group, the security deposit would be $15 per day and I was aware that a charge would be on my personal credit card, which was fine . When I checked in, the lady at the desk said she would charge for the security deposit. I was staying for 3 nights , so there should have been a charge of $45. Once I got to my room, I checked my account and saw there was a $500 charge on my account . I went back down to the front desk and calmly said to the lady, I am just looking for clarity on why my card was charge this amount when that’s not the agreement that was told by phone. I was immediately met with hostility and was told “I’m not going to argue with you, you can talk to the manger.” The manager Sheeri Hightower came out and she was just as rude. She was very dismissive and told me no credit card was on file for my reservation and that’s why I was charge. That was a complete lie , because you can’t even book a reservation without a credit card and if that was the case, why wasn’t that mentioned when I checked in??! So, I went back to my room. As I walked away, I heard Sheeri Hightower and her employee laughing at me as I walked away(Nice way to make your guest feel welcomed.)To make a long story short, I had my manager email over his credit card info so he could cover the reservation. My manager called me and told me he talked to the front desk and it should be handled. Instead of the hotel manager calling me to tell me the issue was resolved and my credit card would be refunded, I heard nothing from them. So I stopped by the front desk again, Just to confirm they received my managers credit card and that it would be refunded . Again, I was met with an attitude and was talked to In a condescending tone. The following day, I was at the bar by the pool and the manager Sheeri Hightower walked behind the bar, looked dead at me and didn’t speak . She turned her back to me and ate a hamburger behind the bar and never acknowledged me. Once she was done, she walked away. The Hampton Inn needs to take a better look at the type of people they are hiring . I have been a customer service manager for 15 years and I would never be this rude to a customer. When my company has another convention, I will recommend they find another hotel. I will never stay here again.
OOsborneMargaretCheck in process was not smooth due to room keys not programming correctly at check in. We were sent upstairs to “try” the key which of course didn’t work. The hotel staff was very kind about it and came up to let us into the room until keys could be programmed. The major disappointment was our room. It had 2 doubles which is perfect for family traveling, but the glass shower is front and center with a view from every direction within the room and from the exterior hallway. Not a family friendly stay.

GGuest UserFirst time I have ever entered a hotel room and had serene music playing. It set a relaxing atmosphere to rest in a very comfortable bed in a very nice hotel. The TV was also a smart TV, so we could log into our Youtube and Netflix accounts - when I went to sign out before checking out, it said they auto sign you out upon checkout. Very smart. Also very friendly and helpful desk staff.
HH22NLdinadI have never written a bad review for any establishment I've been to ...but this was very upsetting and handled very wrong! At check-in, I gave license plate information for 2 of my cars. After I checked out, I found a ticket on 1 of my cars for non-payment of parking. Gave the ticket to front desk, and was told ”we'll take care of it”. Called 2 days later and spoke to Grace, their GM to follow-up and was told I never gave them info for 2 cars, only 1. She wouldn't even give me her supervisor's name, said I have to call customer service. I did that and they were unable to assist me and told me that their Gen Mgr has final say. Really???!!!

We arrived late because we were traveling from NH to move our daughter in to her apartment. After reading the negative reviews I waited to book my points until we got here. When I walked in at 11:56 the woman at the front desk said to book asap before 12. So I booked a queen bed and a pull out couch because that is all that was left for points. After she realized we were there with our daughter, she upgraded us to two queens and a much larger room. She was so accommodating and super nice. I wish I got her name (she was working August 2nd at 11:56). When we got to our room it was really nice and large. Yes, it is dated (but very clean) and the rooms are pet friendly so there were dogs there but they didn’t bark at all. The room smelled nice. No bugs (like people mentioned) and we had a great nights sleep before we had to move a truck load of furniture. The breakfast was also very good. Eggs, oatmeal (with a million toppings), sausage, bagels, toast, muffins. The woman running the breakfast was also super nice walking around and asking everyone if they needed anything. I definitely recommend this place.
GGuest UserOkay, I am going to say that the hotel itself is clean, comfy and the staff is friendly and efficient. The property is in the downtown area and adjacent to the local college campus and is a River front property... and that ladies and gents is my only issue. What I am about to write will no doubt be read by people who will think Hmmm, what a self-entitled ***** and to that I will correct you and ask you to remove the ”self” part and focus SOLELY on the ENTITLED part. I am and have been for several years a Diamond HHonors member. You achieve Diamond (Hilton's HIGHEST level of guest loyalty) not because you OCCASSIONALLY stay at a Hilton branded property, but because you stay at them CONSTANTLY. In order to get there, you have not only spent nights in their bed's but THOUSANDS of dollars to achieve that level of brand LOYALTY. Among the perks/benefits of that level of BRAND LOYALTY (please note the theme here with that word) you have the right to request a room upgrade at check in among other benefits. For the record, not once since achieving Diamond status, have I requested my room be upgraded to a suite. Primarily because I am in the hotel for one day and on to my next property the following day, most times leaving in the middle of the night due to the line of work I am in. Today, as I arrive at the Ballast, I notice the river and the USS North Carolina museum ship moored just behind the hotel. I get to my room and discover that I am street side in an odd numbered room and would really like to get some upper view photos of the battleship. I returned to the desk and ask if I could be switched to a waterside room. Now, for the record the hotel is NINE STORIES TALL and as near as I can calculate has 26 water facing rooms on each floor. Assuming, that floors one and two and possibly three are event and meeting space that still leaves six floors or 156 water side rooms available for booking. Imagine my surprise when I am informed that ”sorry, there is no way for me to move you” You're telling me that 156 rooms are occupied by folks that are incredibly LOYAL to your brand? That the2 wedding parties that you tell me are in house could not be equally accommodated in street side rooms? So much for brand LOYALTY!

GGuest UserThis was our 1st time in this Sleep in and though the room seemed a little small, other than that it was fine. The front-end employees were excellent with extra soap and towel requests, and it was nice to see they had a breakfast rather than the bagged to go breakfasts some motels are still handing out. They had 2 waffle machines and even had chocolate pancake batter, along with microwave biscuits and burritos, cereal, fruit, pastries etc. The Orange juice machine did break one day. It was nice to see the USA Today available on the table in the lobby.
GGuest UserSam and BJ were absolutely exceptional during the check-in/check out process. Despite what other individuals have posted regarding this location in the past, it is currently immaculate and and even the rate is extremely competitive considering you are only 15-20 minutes away from the beach :-). I look forward to future visits to this location.
