Absolutely fantastic, Abigail and Andrew, down to earth hosts and gave us some great advice on things to do, we spent 2 days in room 5 in the gables, and it was our home from home , in fact we didn't do a lot of the stuff we planned because we enjoyed our room so much xxx breakfast amazing, waffles and fruit 😀... thank u both for a fabulous weekend...

This was our second stay in The Nook. It is a beautiful little cottage, with fully serviced kitchen and dining area downstairs, living area, bathroom and bedroom upstairs. There is honestly everything you could need. Sky Movies and Sky Sports are included. The kitchen has everything you could need. There's even a private garden area just for guests of the cottage. It is a lovely 20 minute walk down into Bowness, less than 10 minutes into Windermere. Bus stop at the top of the street with the best bus service I've seen in a long time. There are several pubs serving food within easy walking distance, and a few walks which can be started from the from of the cottage! Highly recommended, Andrew and Abigail are the friendliest hosts and really think of everything - even muffins on arrival!

There is nothing to criticise about Ivythwaite Lodge. We came for a 4 night stay to the Lake District & chose here due to its location which was lovely & peaceful. We couldn’t have been looked after any better. Our hosts Andrew & Abigail really know how to look after their guests. Nothing was too much trouble. On arrival there was milk in our fridge plus water for drinking / making tea. Not only that there was some home made cake which my husband loved. Plenty of tea / coffee & biscuits available. We stayed in room 1 which had a lovely view of the front garden, the comfiest four poster bed, it was lovely & warm, but the best thing was having a bath to relax in after walking! They have thought of everything - lovely quality towels, plus there was free hand wash, shower gel & hand lotion to use too. Little things like this just made our trip more homely. Breakfast was made to order, local produce used & home made bread for toast (which was so nice). Andrew’s knowledge for local areas to visit was so appreciated as this was our first trip to the Lake District. Plus there were laminated route cards available if we wanted them (routes found on their website too ). Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to coming back next year. We had a lovely weekend stay at Ivythwaite Lodge. We stayed in room 3 (a superior double room - no sign of the bowler hat ghost!) which had everything we needed. Our hosts Andrew and Abigail were very welcoming. In the room there was homemade lemon cake on arrival, there was also fridge with fresh milk for hot drinks and bottled water. The hairdryer was decent and not a travel hairdryer. Breakfast was delicious - again homemade bread for sandwiches/toast and muffins to take away and enjoy if you didn’t have room (which we did both mornings). We both couldn’t fault anything and definitely would recommend staying - the guest house is perfectly situated from the main road so nice and quiet but just a short enough walk from both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Andrew and Abigail went above and beyond to make our stay special, great local knowledge and suggested places to visit we would never have considered all of which were well worth visiting. The breakfast choices cater for everyone and are fabulous using locally sourced quality ingredients the home made bread and cakes are fantastic. Any one who wants to experience Fortean phenomena book room 3 if available, we caught but a glimpse of a bowler hat wearing gentleman at the end of the four poster bed but the aroma of witch hazel lingered for a while. Very intriguing.

What a fantastic B&B tucked away on a back road. Located in between Bowness and Windermere, 20 minute walk to either place, so excellent location and back from the main road so there’s no noise at all. We stayed in one of the superior rooms which had plenty of space, large 4 poster bed, spa bath, comfortable mattress, tea and coffee making facilities (with cafetière), fridge and bay window. There were extra tea/coffee portions available between the rooms and the hosts were always happy to provide anything else you required. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Plenty of choice and you could choose to eat in the dining room for it, or have a tray delivered to your room. Ingredients were excellent and variety was ample with my partner even saying that the waffles with fruit was one of the best breakfasts she ever had! Finally the hosts: Andrew and Abigail were extremely nice. You could tell they took pride in what they do and the experience they want to offer. Nothing was too much trouble, always happy to help and offer advice on places to go and tips on eateries. Abigail clearly enjoys her baking as they pride themselves on most things being home baked - great tasting muffins, rolls etc. The people really do make the place. Well done!

Beautiful setting in quiet street close to Windermere and Bowness. We had a lovely room with mini fridge and well stocked tray of goodies including delicious home made lemon drizzle cake. Our bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed total relaxation. Breakfast on both mornings was truly superb. Everything piping hot and well presented. Our hosts were on hand and lovely giving helpful advice. Thoroughly recommend Ivythwaite; attention to detail was so lovely. Thank you.
