Schoolhouse Restaurant and Hotel

The hotel is a delight! It’s full of character, charm and is quirky. As soon as you step into the foyer you are transported into the old school with modern touches. You are greeted at the reception by Karen, the owner, who is very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable and functional with plenty of desk space, chairs and mirrors. Tea, coffee facilities as well as an iron /ironing board, a bath and shower with hot water. Plenty of towels on hand. Having chose the room service for evening meal, what can I say. The food was prompt and piping hot. The burger and accompanying salad was out of this world. Compliments the chef! Karen, was great at accommodating dietary requests for picky eaters. After a great night sleep on comfortable beds with peace and quiet. We were treated to a countryside view when the cows from the filed behind came to the fence. Again, we opted for room service for breakfast, it was again prompt and freshly made. The breakfast itself was delicious with the accompanying tea and orange juice. This place is a real gem and would highly recommend a stay.

Stayed here because we were attending a wedding at the nearby Pear Tree. We were greeted by a lovely lady who booked us in earlier than expected . The room was very comfortable and the shower was great. TV, tea and coffee and an iron with board if required. Breakfast was served in our room at a time specified by ourselves which was delicious. Parking was easy and would highly recommend this establishment for any nearby events. Tip:Book any taxis required in advance .

Fabulous greeting both on the phone and on arrival. Everything about this place deserves a big tick compared to the corporate hotel I’ve just arrived at next day in Telford. I will be returning here without a doubt. Visitors to this establishment need to respect what it’s all about. Breakfast was fab.

such a nice find, living in France we wanted a real 'english' experience. We were not disappointed. This old school has been nicely maintained keeping the 'old style' in the bedrooms and bathrooms, quirky but thoroughly appreciated, lovely old fittings and decor. The food is so nice too, sensible portions of freshly homemade dishes, a good variety too. (The home made fish fingers are a must!!) We will recommend this delightful place to our family and friends. looking forward to coming back.

I spent my working life staying in faceless chain hotels so now I look for different and individual. This gets ticks in all the boxes. The building was like a scaled up version of our old family home. The welcome was warm, especially from the dog. Dinner was sublime and breakfast great and substantial.

My partner and I went on our date night early evening,we were greeted by Karen the owner who was very friendly and welcoming,she was a great host. All the food was prepared fresh and did not disappoint,my partner had the Halloumi and orange salad and I had the Oyster Kedgeree,absolutely amazing,followed by Fillet Steak for my partner and Monkfish for myself. Will definitely recommend and will be going there again,worth every penny.
