this place is even more wonderful than what is advertised. a truly whimsical hidden gem, and one of the most wonderful hotel experiences i have ever encountered. a little piece of heaven tucked away among the wuyuan countryside. from the moment we stepped onto property, we were welcomed and made to feel so at home, our every need and request was granted by the kind and friendly staff members who went above and beyond to make our experience special. the rooms, and the grounds are beautifully up-kept, every attention to detail is exquisite and effortlessly transports you to a peaceful state of mind. i can’t recommend this beautiful place highly enough. we truly hope we will have the chance to come back again someday. 🤍

In Shangtan Ancient Village, we stayed in a traditional mansion and experienced the style of the Hui-style courtyard with a round sky and square earth. The renovation of the ancient house retained the original style, and the photos taken in the courtyard were particularly photogenic. There is an ancient barrier tree at the entrance. It is the filming location of the movie. Many people come here to check in. There are many ancient villages around that you can drive to, especially Qingyuan Ancient Village, which is worth a visit.

Really satisfied, beyond expectations. I booked a blind box room, and because it was the off-season, the housekeeper upgraded me to a VIP room on the second floor. It was very large, had a smart toilet, and the water pressure for the shower was sufficient. It was exactly the same as shown in the picture and very comfortable. We also had dinner, breakfast and afternoon tea at his house. The food was delicious and we basically finished all the dishes.
The next day, I changed into his Ming Dynasty Hanfu, and the housekeeper helped take photos for free. I could only say, "Can I take photos for free?" First of all, the quality of the Hanfu is very good, and the old house looks very atmospheric. The lady also carefully helped me braid my hair and picked out hair accessories. Even normally I am not so satisfied with the photos I took while traveling. Here are some photos of the scenery of Shangtan Village, Longwei Village, Hongguan Village and Chaguan Village in winter. Although not as colorful as spring, it is less crowded and has its own unique flavor.

A very romantic homestay carefully selected by Wuyuan, Mingxun Villa with a 300-year history during the Yongzheng period, is elegant and quiet. It is located next to the big camphor tree in Shangtan Village, and is quiet in the midst of the hustle and bustle. The Lan Coffee House next to it is also very good.
Environment: The wooden house has retained its classical original flavor to the greatest extent. On the lintel is an exquisitely carved picture of the Queen Mother paying her respects to her birthday, which is lifelike. The whole courtyard is grand and simple, with teahouses and study rooms scattered around. It is especially suitable for sipping tea, sitting and daydreaming. It is very comfortable to stay there quietly for a whole day. They also provide Hanfu experience and movie screenings at night, and every corner is very artistic for taking photos. Each room is named after a movie. We stayed in Party A and Party B, which was spacious and elegantly decorated.
Service: The owner will arrange a car to pick us up at the hotel in advance. The driver Sun who provided us with the car was serious and responsible. He waited for us to pick up the car at the high-speed rail station and then enthusiastically took us to Huangling. I was also very satisfied with the ancient style photos taken at the B&B. It was my first time to experience beautiful cheongsam parent-child photos. The Huangling Scenic Area was crowded during the holiday so I stayed in Yunshui Yao for a long time. The owner treated me warmly with good tea and snacks. It was very friendly and I felt as comfortable as if I was at home.
In general, this is a highly recommended hotel. We all enjoyed the leisure and relaxation of vacation, away from the hustle and bustle, and felt the tranquility of the old streets, ancient houses, small bridges and mountains and rivers. It was wonderful.
