We travelled from Melbourne to walk in the footsteps of my husband's ancestors on Gulangyu for his 50th birthday. Humble Hall made the experience spectacular. It is an oasis of calm, exceptional service. Understated, modest but so generous. We cannot imagine having stayed anywhere else. We traversed around the whole island on foot which was amazing but we dined almost exclusively at HH, there was simply no reason not to just soak HH in for every moment we weren't walking and exploring. It was sublime!

Love the hotel’s aesthetic design and deco, every corner is so instagrammable, so in love with the vibes there. Room is so nicely designed with matching furniture that make you feel so comfortable, it comes together with the premium amenities. Impeccable hospitality service, staffs are so helpful and welcoming. Foods are freshly prepared and very tasty. Highly recommended.

The housekeeper Shujun is really great! The Leo girl is enthusiastic, sincere, and especially cute when she smiles. Except for her, the other housekeepers are too stereotyped. The scale of 13 rooms is a homestay, not a hotel. The friendly state is more comfortable than the high-quality service. The aging of Gulangyu's business format has made this island have no merits except being away from the inland to relax and be in a daze. The public area of the homestay is particularly important for being in a daze. I didn't experience it here. In addition to taking pictures, there is really no very comfortable space for people to stay except taking pictures. People who don't like taking pictures are easily disturbed in a small space.
