This is a traditional Japanese inn, and the facilities can feel a bit old.
The room is tatami style, but there is no air conditioning, only an electric fan.
The men's hot spring area has only one pool and no scenery to enjoy.

This is a hidden gem of a place to stay in Zao at this time of year, and I understand that the facilities are old and inconvenient, but they just apologize and there is no sign of anything moving forward.
Even old facilities are not a problem as long as they are properly cleaned.
It is still a problem that the showers in the bath area do not have hot water after 9pm.
It is also a problem that there is never a staff member at the front desk.
The location is in a great place, so they should stop apologizing and just manage it properly.

It is a cheap accommodation in the same area, but the facilities/cleanliness/service are very lacking.. Especially, even though it is a famous hot spring area, the lukewarm hot spring temperature is fatal.
