3-Star Hotels in York

Hotel room was quite roomy, probably because we got the handicap-friendly room. Cleanliness is good, service staff were helpful. However there were no dental kits and bedroom slippers given.

I will start with the parking, I paid for secure parking however due to the hotel having noise issue the security gate to the carpark (The noise caused complaints) and second issue of refurbishment being ongoing, the gate was up to allow the building teams to park in the entrance way. This made it difficult to get out of the carpark due to there vans. When I questioned staff they were very dismissive of the issue and said they had CCTV on so it would be fine. The hotel itself is being partial refurbished and that is to revamp the very dated rooms, we were aware of this beforehand, however we were not prepared for 7am drilling and banging from the building works. In addition to this the corridors were often filled with building equipment and furniture which was ongoing throughout the stay. The room, while well proportioned, was very dated. This could have been forgiven if it wasn't for the fact the room was not clean. There were a number of stains on the carpet, the bathroom sink was stinking when used. The bath mat was moldy and the shower itself was a trickle of water, making it difficult to wash quickly. The curtains were very grubby and the room smelled very stale, the bed was adequate but we couldn't be 100% that the sheets had been properly cleaned as there was an odd smell to the bedding. The TV was of decent size but kept cutting in and out of signal when in use, which was annoying when we decided to have an early evening chilling in the room we had paid for, the WiFi was useless, if planning to work while staying here you will need to hotspot your phone. The breakfast food was OK, however the description of a wide choice of cooked food and continental breakfast dishes was over exaggerated, there was no fruit on two days and bananas on the last morning, one choice of yogurt and 3 small cereal options. The cooked food was standard: Bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns, tomatoes,mushrooms and bean's. Toast was something that had to be requested and was more like warm bread. On the first morning my partner was served a cup with the remainder of someone's lipstick stains on the rim. On closer inspection of the glasses there were a number which were not clean. On the second night we went to the bar area to grab a couple of drinks. The bar was full of empty unwashed glasses and when we got our drinks our glasses where sticky. There was a smell of stale ale which was not appealing in the slightest. On checking out raised a couple of things with the receptionist and was meet with at best distinct lack of interest and worst just plan rudeness. Sadly this hotel did not meet the standards it professed to uphold. I would say the location and river view was pretty and the fact the parking was at the hotel itself made it one of the reasons I booked it. However after this visit I will not be visiting again as there are better hotels in York and carparks that are not much more expensive than the supposed secure parking.

The interior decoration of this youth hostel is nice and the price is relatively affordable. Because there are many tourists in York on weekends, the beds are limited. I reluctantly booked a mixed room for 6 people, but I was unlucky because I seemed to be the only woman in the room, and there was a man who snored loudly, talked to himself, and got up at 3 o'clock in the morning and turned on the light, which made the sleeping experience very bad. It should be noted that the toilet and bathroom in this youth hostel are very small and are shared by 6 people in the room, not the kind of shared on the same floor, which is very inconvenient.

Very expensive for a small room at the top of two flights of stairs. A standard double bed in a reasonable size room but the hotel is tired and in need of some real tlc.

We have just returned after a 2 night stay. As some of the first guests to use this site we were impressed with the set up. We had electric hook up. There was spotless toilets and showers in the main stable blocks . Loads of hot water and pot washing facilities outside. There was a communal room where large screen TVs and breakfast was available to purchase in the mornings. Everything from fresh fruit , cereal , or the full English. We were well looked after by the team there and nothing seemed a problem for them. Very warm and welcoming. Plenty of refuse bins available and a warden who made regular walk rounds. It’s about a 5 min taxi ride to the centre of York but just outside the gate there is a Chinese takeaway, fish and chip shop and two decent pubs. A local shop is a couple of hundred yards down the road. They also have rooms to rent which seemed very reasonably priced and again spotlessly clean. We stayed with family in 3 tents and we all agree we would not hesitate to go back. Well worth a visit if your exploring York and the surrounding area. Thank you for a great weekend . I chose this hotel for this trip. The location is very good. You can walk to the train station, York Minster and Butcher Street in a few minutes! The room size is very suitable and clean, but you need to bring your own slippers

Lovely stay at Blossom South Premier Inn at York. Perfect locations for us to walk between the train station, hotel and city centre shops/restaurants. Great friendly efficient staff who checked us in. The room was modern and had been recently updated so had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend for a city break stay!

Lovely friendly staff on the desk to greet you. Our room was much more than we were expecting, it was very spacious, clean and the bed was very comfy. We had a great nights sleep considering the hotel is on a busy road we didn’t hear any noise. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and there is plenty of selection. Its only a 5 minute walk to the minster. We found everything within walking distance. We will definitely stay again.

This place was awful, we booked for 3 nights but checked out after the first night before breakfast. We took our 13 year old granddaughter for a break to York, but on arrival we were met by Jason who told us we had to have breakfast at 8am due to all the tables were already booked ( all 4 of them ) when I questioned this he stated well you don’t have to have breakfast! You haven’t paid for it, it’s something we offer for free!!! then was told where our room was. The room was filthy, the kettle, cups and spoons I had to wash before I could use them, the floor was only hoovered where you could see as under the wardrobe and other items in room was at least an inch in dust, both radiators in room were absolutely filthy with grim, dust and hair. The decor was dated with chips in paintwork, the sash window had a piece of paper folded up to I suppose stop the rattling. The only chair in room had a slash in it & my granddaughters bed had a tear in the bedding. And the tv remote was so full of grim and dirt that I actually didn’t want to touch it!! We booked the room through ******* so I called them before we slept the night and they contacted the owner who said it was the only room they had and would speak to his staff. We checked out before breakfast as I really didn’t want to go there when the room was so bad!! The owner did apologize and gave us a full refund but I then had to find other accommodation as promised my granddaughter a few days away. The only good thing about this place is location and parking!! But even that was not worth it.
