Our stay here was probably one of the most relaxing, pampered hotel experiences we've had in several years. The hotel is ideally situated for all the major sights in Zagreb and the internal décor is as sumptuous as advertised. Our room was warm, comfortable and well appointed with everything one could need....we were particularly grateful for a telephone/clock, something which is often absent, these days and the bathroom scales which allowed us to check suitcase weight for our flight home. There was a good range of options for breakfast and that was served in a delightful area....however, we found it a little expensive for our dietary restrictions and, therefore, after the first day, opted for the brunch menu a little later and that was excellent. We would have liked to eat in the hotel restaurant, in the evening, but there was no acceptable vegetarian option on the menu.....we gather the chefs are working on that! We have given top marks for the usual categories of cleanliness, value for money etc, but must comment further on the over-riding impression we had of the staff, which made our stay so memorable. Individual names are too numerous to mention and we made a point of thanking those people for their service, before we left, but the standard of attention and the general feeling that this was a happy and professional team was remarkable. Without exception we were treated with respect, compassion and good humour...there really was nothing more any of the staff could have done for us and we really did feel that we were leaving friends, on our departure. We appreciated the visit to the vault and learned so much more about the history of Zagreb and the origins of the hotel itself....once again, we were so grateful for the time afforded us on that particular occasion; so too, for the parting gifts as we left. If time allows, we would have no qualms about returning to Zagreb, as long as this hotel could accommodate us! A huge thank you to all.
