Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The excellent service rendered by the staff made our honeymoon much sweeter. Everyone was friendly, kind and always willing to help. Room was really nice and the extra sauna and open concept bathtub was a nice surprise! Breakfast spread was super delicious as well. Facilities like the wellness area include foot bath, infrared chairs, jacuzzi etc.

We booked two nights at this hotel, paying $4,500 for two rooms. After the first night, we realized there wasn’t much to do, as everything in the area closes at 7 PM, and the hotel itself offers no activities. The next day, we decided to take our kids skiing, but unfortunately, my son had an accident and injured his knee.
In Zermatt, getting immediate help isn’t easy, so we had to cut our trip short and return to Dubai for proper medical attention. Before leaving, I asked the hotel if they could cancel our second night and provide a refund, given the circumstances. Not only did they refuse, but they also showed zero concern for my son’s injury. They didn’t offer any assistance, nor did they call for an emergency doctor. Their only response was, “There’s a doctor in town—order a taxi and take him yourself.”
The real issue? The hotel is in a remote location with no taxis or buses readily available, and as first-time visitors, we had no idea how to navigate the situation. With no other option, we canceled our plans and flew back home.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson: just because a hotel is expensive doesn’t mean it offers better service. In this case, a three-star hotel might have been a better choice.

It was very cozy and the lady at the front desk was very welcoming from beginning to end. It felt like home. She actively helped to solve any problems. You can see the blues of the Matterhorn directly from your room at night. The morning sun shines on the golden mountain without any obstruction. The breakfast is also very rich.

Hotel Matthiol was our favorite stay in Switzerland! The hotel is tucked just outside the main part of Zermatt, which made it feel peaceful and private, but it was still an easy walk into town, and the complimentary shuttle was a nice bonus. We stayed in a spa room with a sauna, steam shower, and a big soaking tub right by the window overlooking the mountains. The self-guided spa was perfect for relaxing, and the massage we booked was absolutely worth it. On top of all that, the restaurant served some of the best food we had during our entire trip. We cannot wait to come back!
