Budget Youth Hostel

The very affordable hostel is run by the two Viktors, who run the hostel with heart and soul. Viktor himself speaks Ukrainian, Russian and French and some English. Check-in is only possible from 16:00 onwards, but it was pointed out that you can lock up your luggage at Zurich main station from 5 Swiss francs (6h maximum, otherwise it costs half the rent on top). There are lockers in the rooms that cost a €10 deposit, which you get back when you return the key. You are not allowed to walk around in street shoes in the hostel, but slippers are provided, I had my own. The rooms are all well set up and cater for the most urgent needs. You can eat in peace, even prepare your own food, and the kitchen is quite well equipped. The two bathrooms both have showers, with a third shower soon to be installed. Accordingly, as already mentioned in the other reviews, there is sometimes a waiting time, but this was not so often the case. In the rooms themselves, with one exception, I had only very friendly and funny people. You have to be lucky, though, because some people don't want to have anything to do with everyone else. All in all, for travellers who are on the road a lot and are looking for a cheap place to sleep or for a short time, this is definitely a worthwhile investment.
