I recently stayed at Ruby Mimi Hotel in Zurich for three days and two nights, and it was a delightful experience. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, being very near Zurich HB and within walking distance of numerous shops.
I was particularly pleased to receive a room upgrade upon arrival, which added a nice touch to my stay. The room was kept impeccably clean every day, which I greatly appreciated. The hotel also offers a galley where guests can make tea, refill hot water, or iron clothes—a thoughtful and practical feature.
Ruby Mimi's interesting concept and excellent amenities make it a must-stay hotel in Zurich for anyone seeking convenience and comfort. Highly recommended!

Overall it's pretty good, a fast chain hotel, the room is clean and modern, the room is large for the same price in Switzerland, free water is provided (need to take it from the refrigerator next to the front desk), hair dryer, bath towel, toiletries, cotton swabs and cotton pads are provided; there are no disposable slippers and toothbrushes, you need to bring your own.
It's a 10-minute walk from the train station and has a good location in the city center.

The location was easy to find and access. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was quite small for two adults carrying two large suitcases, and it was quite hard to fully open both in the room simultaneously. Overall, it was still great.

Outstanding
RRonan PatrickNice hotel just outside the main area of Zurich. Room was a bit expensive considering it was small and had a shared bathroom. Maybe it was just Zurich prices, or the fact that Taylor Swift was in town and lots of places week booked up. Good tram system meant it was still easy to get around. Room was a bit hot at night and there was construction going on literally outside my window in the morning with the builders blaring their music in my window.
RRL2006RENThe hotel is just opposite the convention center, with convenient transportation and dining. The room size is worthy of 4-star standards in Europe. The room does not have an ironing board, which is not like the configuration of Holiday Inn.
WWilson SamWe had a terrible experience on the second night of the stay:
We went out for city tour in the morning and when we come back to the room in the afternoon, our room is like being robbed, 3 out of 4 suitcases are missing, the bathroom is only half way clean, balcony door left open, most clothes hanging in the wardrobe are missing. I called front office immediately and i have been told that housekeeping had found the door of wardrobe is broken and has a risk of falling, so for safety reason, therefore, they have transferred our suitcases to the new room.
so here are the question:
1. Why there are only half of my belongings are being transferred to the new room? You either transferred all my belongings to the new room, but not just half of it, it is so scary when you back to your room which it is like a crime scene!
2. Is it normal for a luxury hotel to touch guest's personal belonging without permission of the guest?
3. If the hotel find it a safety issue inside the room, why do they still let the guest go into the room? That kind of put the guest in a dangerous environment that may get injured!
4. Have the hotel ever tried to contact the guest, by phone/email of such incident had happened in the room? or worst case, to stop me to get in to the room, when i passed by front desk before get back to the room? none of it had been done
In short, this is not acceptable for any hotel, not talking about Ameron is a luxury brand, the hotel has poor risk management, this is my first time using this brand and I don't think there will be a second chance, terrible experience and even on the checked out date, no one care to ask how was my stay.
GGuest UserThe location is excellent, within walking distance to the train station, the lake and the old town. Beautiful appearance. However, the taxi driver only dropped us at the entrance of the alley outside, and it looked like we were going to walk in. In the middle of the night, I fumbled for ten minutes before I found the side facing the river.
Although there are not many types of restaurants, they are very exquisite. The service is good. We were still waiting for us to check in at 12:30 in the evening. We were given free water and drinks and could store our luggage. The family suite is ok in size, with a small terrace and extra quilts in the closet, which is very friendly to families with children. The room facilities are a bit outdated, but it still has its advantages.
FFrancisco VicenteGood location, only 20 minutes walking from the main train station and 9 minutes in public transport with several options to travel around the city. They allow you to use their microwave and kitchenware if you bring your own food.
Breakfast does not worth for the price you paid.
Highly recommended if you are coming to Zurich for few days.
MMiX007The hotel is a little away from the center (15~20 min by tram), plus 4min walk to the station. The check-in was quick, although in proper Swiss fashion the check-in time is only at 3pm. Fortunately, we were allowed to move in earlier. The room is big enough, but if you have big suitcases it'll be a bit tight. The staff is courteous and helpful, and try to accommodate if they can. The breakfast selection isn't too wide, but it's well arranged and has most of what you'd expect. There's a proper gym (exceedingly rare) with enough equipment to satisfy all but the pros. However, it does get a bit busy at times. They also have a decent swimming pool. There's a workstation with a printer next to the reception that guests can use for free - perfect if you need to print out tickets. They were happy to hold our baggage after we moved out until our flight in the evening - much appreciated.
We paid about 125CHF a night for a standard room for two including breakfast, which is a good deal in Zurich. All things considered, there's very little to complain about. We had an excellent stay, and would love to stay there again.
GGuest UserYes, there is no hiding the fact that the Krone Pop-up has gone to great lengths to keep their prices as low as possible, but for the most part it is a well-run and comfortable base for short stays. The rooms and communal lounge are inviting, stylish and well-kept. The building is many centuries old, and traces its various incarnations are visible in these areas, giving it a quirky character. The views across the river to the old town are also beautiful. A hotel in this price category so close to HB is obviously a rarity, let alone one with nice perks like this. The WiFi was incredibly fast and stable. Late check-in worked perfectly. The hotel has a slick system for online check-in and the key dispenser at the entrance worked without a hitch. The Assistant Manager was really helpful and welcoming by e-mail in advance. To be fair, my stay was on a Sunday night, so the cleaning frequency may have been lower than usual, but the communal toilets and showers were not in great shape. They clearly are not designed for how intensely they are used, nor are they cleaned often enough for it. There's nothing worse in a communal shower than a moist shower curtain and no space to avoid it. Add to that the hair, sticky residue and grubby towel on the floor, and suddenly the room price doesn't seem like such a bargain. The solution is so simple: a pile of fresh floor towels and basket for used ones, plus some Mr. Clean for self-service cleaning during unmanned hours. The Soeder toiletries were lovely though! Arriving late on a hot day also proved to be unlucky, because I arrived to an overheated, stuffy room with no time to let it cool down before going to bed. The adjacent bar really is loud, but not much of a hindrance to sleep because it seems to close early (some time around midnight, on Sunday at least). The facing building across the narrow alley is very close and looks directly into the room, limiting the privacy and therefore how open you can leave the windows to let fresh air in. So, all-in-all the sleep quality was just too low. The heat, noise and lack of privacy made for a restless night. I just needed a place to spend 7 hours between my flight arriving late at night and then my train departing early the next morning, and the Krone Pop-up was the pragmatic choice for that. I wouldn't consider it for work trips - the sleep quality isn't good enough - but it could be a sociable, good-value base for leisure trips during the week.
GGuest UserWe just have 1 bottle water free in 1 room for for 3 person, even we stayed for 3 night...only in the first night we had 1 bottle water free..We suggest that if posible give 1 bottle water for 1 person everyday/night...and the tissue just 1 box only 1 time for 3 nights staying.
Thank's for cooperation
The other fasilities is ok..
SsimpleologistThe location was not as near as google map states it is, for guests who walk with big luggage as there are several roads to cross. There is a construction site ongoing literally beside the hotel. Although we were not affected by the noise, it’s something to take note of. The receptionists were friendly. Room has more amenities than typical hotel (kitchen and dining table). However, they didn’t provide bedroom slippers which is disappointing because it’s quite basic. We arrived night time and check out early in the morning, so I think the price is too expensive to justify the stay.
MMoAngusI was plagued with trepidation before staying at the Swiss Star California. I had read some negative comments on Google Maps and trip.com, and the dread of what might go wrong loomed heavy over me. However, as fate would have it, my fears were unwarranted - the hotel, or rather, the service apartment, turned out to be a pleasant surprise and surpassed my expectations.
The room was clean, well-equipped, and not too shabby. The heater functioned perfectly, which was a relief since it was a frosty February in Zurich. They had everything one would expect from a basic hotel room.
But here's a word of caution: after booking your stay, make sure to check your email. You will receive a message from the hotel, not just a confirmation, containing the passcode and room number. Without this information, you might find yourself stranded outside the door, with no one to receive your calls or help with check-in. Trust me; I know how it feels to be left out in the cold, frantically seeking assistance from Trip.com.
Furthermore, if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to pray for a room on the ground or first floor. Unfortunately, there is no lift in the building.
However, let's not forget that this is one of the most affordable places to stay in Zurich. With that in mind, who could realistically expect luxury amenities and top-notch service? All in all, Swiss Star California proved to be a pleasant surprise and an excellent value for the price.
