Introduction Scuba Diving in Komodo

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate

Komodo Island, located in the Lesser Sunda Islands region of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, is famous for its unique ecosystem and rich marine life.

Unique Creatures and Landscapes:Komodo has a wide variety of marine life, ranging from sunfish, manta rays, and dolphins to pygmy seahorses, razorfish, and blue-ringed octopuses. Divers also have the opportunity to encounter the Komodo dragon's marine cousin, the Komodo dragon. In addition, the coral reefs near Komodo Island are well preserved and are one of the few coral reefs in the world that have not been damaged by human activities. These coral reefs are brightly colored and varied in shape, providing divers with an underwater landscape that looks like a fairy tale world.

Exceptional visibility:The waters of Komodo Island are crystal clear, with visibility up to 15-30 meters, and some dive sites can even achieve higher visibility, which allows divers to clearly see every corner of the seabed and capture those fleeting underwater wonders.

Comfortable Air and Water Temperatures:Komodo Island has a mild and pleasant climate, with water temperatures ranging from 22-29 degrees Celsius and air temperatures ranging from 28-32 degrees Celsius. These climatic conditions allow divers to remain comfortable while underwater without having to worry about getting cold or overheating. The best diving season is from April to November, when the water temperature is just right and marine life is most active.

Advanced Difficulty:Diving in Komodo is more difficult and suitable for experienced divers. It is recommended for divers with more than 50 dives.

How I spent 1 day in Labuan Bajo

How I spent 1 day in Labuan Bajo

I had the most incredible day exploring Komodo Island, witnessing the legendary Komodo dragons up close in their natural habitat. It was an awe-inspiring experience to see these prehistoric creatures roam freely. The adventure continued as I went hunting—not to harm, but to spot—the majestic manta rays and graceful sea turtles gliding through the crystal-clear waters. The underwater world was teeming with life, making every moment feel surreal. To top it all off, I visited the breathtaking Padar Island, where the dramatic landscapes, pristine beaches, and panoramic views left me completely mesmerized. It was truly a day to remember!

[Komodo|Indonesian monitor lizards and the coast write a long letter to the wild]

[Komodo | Indonesian Monitor Lizards and Coastline: A Long Letter to Wildness] Located between the azure sea of East Nusa Tenggara, Komodo Island resembles a pristine world, where dry grasslands, red earth slopes intertwine with the azure coast. Every breath reveals the wildness of nature and the tension of life. In the early morning, Komodo Island is tranquil yet vibrant. A thin mist lingers, and the occasional low hum of wild Komodo dragons drifts through the grasslands and trees. Time here feels stretched, and every step feels like a journey through a savage landscape. Strolling along the trails, the monitors, the bushes, the red earth hills, and the distant coastline appear and disappear in the morning light. Wildness and nature intertwine into a dynamic scene, and the wildness and wilderness of Komodo Island flow through the light and shadow. The afternoon light is at its brightest, the grasslands ablaze with golden yellow, the monitors leisurely drift, and the red earth outlines are clearly defined. As visitors stroll slowly, the island's wilderness and vitality are vividly revealed in the light and shadow. At dusk, the setting sun paints the red earth hills and shrubs a warm golden color, its shadows extending to the coast. The sea breeze caresses the waves, and time seems to slow down. Truly breathtaking, it's after nightfall that the tranquil vista where the sea meets the sky and the island's wildlife whispers. Komodo Island whispers a story of wild power, the vastness of the coast, and pristine life. If time permits, hike along the island's trails, photographing the light and shadows and the presence of monitor lizards, or sit quietly at the observation deck, capturing the intertwining moments of wilderness, coast, and wildlife. You'll understand then: Komodo isn't just a tourist attraction, but a poem composed of wilderness, monitor lizards, and light. Every step brings a sense of natural wildness and the power of life. ✨ Tips (useful tips for your trip) • Time to visit: Early morning for the purest wilderness, afternoon for the brightest light, dusk for the most magnificent sunset, and night for the most tranquil coast. • Viewing spots: Monitor lizard habitat, red earth hills, coastal observation deck, and wild grasslands. • Recommended activities: Hiking, photography, wildlife observation, and coastal walks. • Recommended dining: Simple meals on the island or seafood cruises, keeping it safe and simple in the wild. • Recommended accommodations: B&Bs on Komodo Island or nearby islands, convenient for early morning and evening exploration. • Transportation: Arrive at Komodo Island by boat, then explore the scenic area on foot or with a guided hike. • Seasonal mood: The dry season (April to November) is best, with golden grasslands and azure waters; the rainy season brings lush vegetation but muddy roads. — 📌 Traveler's Notes In Komodo, I learned to see with my eyes how light and shadow flow across the wilderness, red earth, and coast, and to listen to the wind and the whispers of the wild. That raw wildness and life force remain in my heart more deeply than any shutter. — 🔖 Tags #Komodo #IndonesianWilderness #KomodoDragon #HikingExploration #Photography #RedClayHills #CoastalScenery #Wildlife #EastNusaTenggara #TravelPhotographySpots

Traditional village of Wae Rebo in Indonesia!

The traditional village of Wae Rebo, in Flores - Indonesia 🇮🇩 Last week, I had the opportunity to take a short trip to Indonesia. I was fortunate to visit #waerebo, a small village at 1,200 metres above sea level. Getting there is a little adventure (an hour’s flight from Bali, a five-hour drive from #labuanbajo airport and around 2.5 hours hiking to the top), but it is worth the effort. The Manggarai ethnic group still live in those traditional huts, mostly disconnected from the outside world. They have little solar panels that provide energy only for 4 hours per day, rainwater is collected daily, and there is also a small creek nearby. Most of the food consumed in the village comes from the many chickens walking around (and their eggs) and the vegetables cultivated in the gardens around the village. The village was built over 100 years ago, but it went through a few historical restorations to keep the huts in liveable and safe conditions. The village consists of those seven houses (huts) that have been passed on to their families for 23 generations. There are also some coffee bean plantations around that are harvested seasonally. Tourists can taste the famous robusta Wae Rebo coffee at breakfast or buy some roasted beans to take home. Staying overnight, you can share a meal with the locals, listen to their traditional music and sleep in one of the huts. It’s not the most comfortable sleep you can have, but it’s one of the most interesting. I loved everything: the peace and quiet, the genuine and welcoming smiles, the location and the stars are night when everything around you is totally black.

Want to see dragons?

Labuan Bajo is a fishing town located at the western end of the large island of Flores in the East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. It is in Komodo District. It is the capital of the West Manggarai Regency, one of the eight regencies on Flores Island. Labuan Bajo is the gateway to the nearby Komodo National Park on and around Komodo Island and Rinca Island, both home to the famous Komodo dragons. The park is a World Heritage Site. Its islands offer good scuba diving. Every evening at Kalong Island (in the bay on the east side of Komodo island), thousands of flying fox bats (burung kalong in Indonesian) rise from the mangroves and form a massive cloud that crosses the strait to Flores island in search of food.#travel #beachlife

A Visit to Padar Island: A View Worth the Climb ⛰️

#celebrateit #padarisland If you’re looking for one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Indonesia, Padar Island should be at the top of your list. This island, part of Komodo National Park, is famous for its unique landscape, featuring dramatic hills, turquoise waters, and not one, not two, but three stunning beaches—each with a different color of sand: white, black, and pink! 🌊🏝️ The hike to the top takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on your pace. It’s a bit steep, but well-maintained stairs make the climb easier. Trust me, the effort is 100% worth it! Once you reach the peak, you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view that looks straight out of a postcard. 📸 Padar Island is incredible because it offers one of the most unique landscapes in Southeast Asia, and it’s still relatively uncrowded compared to Bali or Phuket. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a photographer, or just someone who appreciates jaw-dropping views, this place delivers. I loved this island 😍
