🚗 Shangri-La Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge International Youth Hostel is also called Tinas, and it is a youth hostel that can accommodate foreign tourists. If you take the direct bus to Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, it will take you to this hostel. 🚗 A few years ago, I took a bus from Lijiang to Shangri-La, passing by Tiger Leaping Gorge. The driver seemed to be the owner of this hostel. At that time, I just walked around Tiger Leaping Gorge, and this time I came to walk the high road, so I thought I would stay here. Apart from being a bit far from the halfway hostel (1–2 hours' walk), everything else is very convenient, and the owner is very friendly. 🚗 Because I arrived late, I just asked for a bed, and I didn't expect to have a room to myself, with a view of the gorge outside. During my trip in Yunnan, we did a night stay at Shangri-la and it was a memorable time.. We went to “Songzanlin Scenic Area”, which is a 20 mins drive away from the city of Shangrila and can easily catch a didi. The ticket for the entrance is 90 rmb which includes the bus ride towards the “Gedan Songzalin Lamasery”, which is one of the oldest Buddhist Monasteries in Yunnan. The walk up through the village towards the Monastery is absolutely breathtaking and the cultural architecture and the colors and just the atmosphere of the whole place is really worth a visit.. 📍Dukezong Ancient Town, Shangri-la, Yunnan Province. Elevation: 3,300 meters above sea level. What a beautiful and peaceful ancient town. This place was our last stop in our Yunnan trip and what a way to just relax in a very chill place like this. The ancient town was not crowded despite the holiday season so going around isn't that hectic compared to Dali and Lijiang. There are many snack places, restaurants, hostels, and souvenir shops that you can enjoy while you are there. I feel like this place is not that commercialized so I actually like my experience here better. It is totally worth a visit! Enjoy your stay! Recommended length of stay: 2-3 days are enough.

We stayed in the “Dukezong Ancient Town” area which was a traditional cultural town full of ambience and amazing old architecture which was absolutely breathtaking 🤩🤩🤩 The stroll throughout the ancient town and finding hidden places with amazing views is what made the trip worth it.. There are plenty of traditional restaurants serving specialty such as “Yak Meat” which is delicious and is worth trying alongside the special “Butter Milk Tea” which you can not stop drinking 🤩🤩🤩 Throughout the village, you will see various tourists dressed in cultural yunnan outfits having pictures taken, In the evening you can take part of the cultural dance in the center of the town, where the locals gather and dance and embracing their culture 🤩🤩 📍Dukezong Ancient Town 🕰 10:00 - 22:00 #passionpassport4

The unknown place in Shangri-La, Yunnan 🌞
It's about 1 hr card ride away from Shangri-La and then another card ride on a very bumby road only accessible with a special car. In order to explore this place you have to get a local guide that knows the way around and I was lucky that a friend passed me the contact detail. The guide was great and also cooked a meal in the shack you see on the pictures which was very authentic and unique. From the shack to the lake it's another 1.5hrs hike depending on your fitness level. All in all this is a full day trip from morning until early evening but totally worth it as you see untouched nature and hardly any tourists❣ #themepark#nationalpark#lakes

Songzanlinsi: A Yellow Wonder
#discoverchina Even though it has the title of The Little Potala Palace, there was nothing little about this monastery that is painted in bright yellow and orange and its gold coated roof ornaments, each with its own meaning and representation. The pricier ticket comes with a bus service and a guide who detailedly explains every single major painting or history (which I had to skip most of due to time constraints) but you do have to climb about 100 steps up to the monastery in the thin air so do bring your oxygen containers. The view from the balcony of the main hall is stunning: the wetlands, the tiny village in which the monks live, the golden statutes, and the monks below performing rituals.
