A heartfelt review of visiting Ban Rak Thai, Mae Hong Son!

Ban Rak Thai is a popular tourist destination for many. This village is surrounded by mountains and features a picturesque morning mist over the water. The author visited in early December 2024, enjoying the cool weather with the lowest temperature around 9°C. Since the morning mist over the water is the highlight, they rushed to book a boat ride, but the slots between 6-7 AM filled up quickly. By the time they got a 7:30 AM slot, the mist had already started to fade. With increasing investments in Ban Rak Thai, accommodation prices have become relatively high, and there are now numerous businesses offering boat rides. This has led to crowded waterways, making it difficult to take beautiful photos without other people in the frame. As the mist dissipates, the scenery feels less special. However, the author highly recommends trying the jasmine tea here—it’s incredibly fragrant!
