A Day Trip to San Marino from Rimini

During my stay in Rimini, I took the chance to explore the tiny, independent republic of San Marino—just a short bus ride away. The journey took about 50 minutes with the Bonelli Bus, which runs regularly from the Rimini train station and costs around €14 return. The ride itself was scenic, with green hills slowly rising as we approached this mountaintop microstate. Once in San Marino, I wandered through the cobbled medieval streets, climbed up to the iconic Guaita and Cesta towers for stunning panoramic views, and admired the grandeur of Palazzo Pubblico on the main square. The atmosphere was peaceful, especially compared to the busy Italian coast. I also enjoyed browsing the duty-free shops and grabbing a coffee with a view. San Marino’s compact size made it perfect for a relaxing, culture-rich day trip.
