The streets of Kars, though not wide, are clean and full of life. I strolled through the streets, feeling the slow pace of the city. The locals were very friendly, and even though we didn't speak the same language, their warm smiles and body language made me feel welcomed. Children playing in the snow added a touch of vitality to this tranquil city. In the morning, I joined a snow hiking activity. Led by a professional guide, I wore snowshoes and walked through the soft snow into the surrounding mountains of Kars. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with snow-covered mountains, frozen rivers, and pine trees dotting the landscape, creating a beautiful winter picture. I admired the magnificent snowy scenery around Kars, feeling the wonders of nature. On a scenic hillside, I stopped to rest and gazed at the entire city of Kars, the beauty of which was truly refreshing. During the snow hike, I felt an unprecedented sense of peace and tranquility. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the city and immersed in nature allowed my mind and body to completely relax. In the afternoon, I visited the local market to experience the life of the locals. Although the market was not as bustling as those in other cities, it was full of life. I also tried a local hot drink, which had a unique taste and warmed me up, dispelling the cold. In the evening, I returned to Kars and watched the sunset. Despite the impressive history, today Kars is a small agricultural based town of about 80,000 people, making it the largest Turkish city on the border with Armenia. Kars is full things to see and to try, come here for 2-3 days and you will not regret it.😋 One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the imposing Kars Castle, which has stood for centuries and is a testament to the city’s rich history. Take a stroll through the historic streets of Kars and marvel at the beautiful Ottoman-era buildings that line the streets. Walk along the streets and you’ll notice there are reminders of the Russian occupation in town including the Fethiye Mosque.
