Furong Town not only has beautiful scenery and rich ethnic customs, but also has cultural landscapes such as the "Xizhou Copper Pillar", a national key protected cultural relic that records the political and military history of the Tujia people, and the location shooting site of the movie "Furong Town". In 2008, it was rated as a national historical and cultural town by the Ministry of Construction. The Xizhou Copper Pillar is now preserved in the Folk Customs and Scenery Museum of Furong Town. In 940 AD, King Ma Xifan of Chu and Peng Shichou, the governor of Xizhou, made peace after years of war, concluded an alliance, divided the border and smelted, and cast a 5,000-jin copper pillar as a witness. According to historical records: "In the fourth year of Tianfu in the Later Jin Dynasty (939 AD), Xizhou Governor Peng Shichou fought against Ma Xifan, the King of Chu who occupied Hunan at that time. After Peng Shichou was defeated, he negotiated peace with Ma Xifan in the fifth year of Tianfu in the Later Jin Dynasty (940 AD). The course of the war and the terms of the peace were engraved on a bronze pillar. The bronze pillar weighs five thousand catties, is 12 feet high, has six hearts buried in the ground, is octagonal in shape, hollow in the middle, and filled with huge coins. The end of the pillar is covered with a bronze top, inscribed with the oath The pillar was carved with the shape of a stone and erected in Huixi. When it was re-erected in the second year of Tianxi in the Song Dynasty (1018 AD), some local official titles were engraved on it. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, the copper top of the pillar was stolen and sank into the river. The copper coins inside the pillar were also used up by people to stick them with candy. In the eleventh year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1885 AD), Zhang Zengyang, the prefect of Yongshun Prefecture, built a pavilion for protection. The copper pillar is pure and smooth; the eight sides are engraved with Yan and Liu style characters, which are still as clear as before despite thousands of years of wind and rain, frost and snow. The Xizhou Copper Pillar is an important document for studying the ancient history of the Tujia people. The Tujia people regard the copper pillar as a sacred object.
