Charleville-Mézières, located in the Ardennes department of the Grand Est region of France, sits on the banks of the Meuse River and has a population of approximately 45,000. It is an important historical and cultural city in the Ardennes. The city was formed by the merger of two historic cities; Charleville, founded in the 17th century by Charles de Gonzague, son of King Henry IV of France, and named after him. The Place Ducale in the city center is an outstanding example of 17th-century French urban planning, with its elegant symmetrical architecture and arcades making it a landmark. Charleville-Mézières is also the birthplace of the famous French poet Arthur Rimbaud, and the city houses the Rimbaud Museum, showcasing his life and literary achievements. Furthermore, it is renowned for its traditional puppetry, hosting the World Puppet Festival (Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes) every three years, attracting artists from around the world. With its rich historical heritage, literary tradition, and unique Ardenne scenery, Charleville-Mézières is a cultural city worth visiting in northeastern France.

France 🇫🇷|Lake Sainte-Croix ~ Verdun Grand Canyon 🌄
#AprilGoodDestinations2025
🚣🏻Lac de Sainte-Croix is connected to the Gorges du Verdon. The turquoise and calm lake water is like an emerald, unforgettable at first sight. This is a paradise for canoe lovers, and we rented a pedalo to cruise on the lake, which was also very pleasant. There are steep cliffs on both sides of the canyon. I saw some French teenagers playing high cliff diving. The brave ones jumped into the water and were cheered by people on the boats on the lake. Some of them were still hesitant to jump into the water, but everyone kept clapping to encourage them. Some people even whistled to cheer them on. It was so joyful.

🚣🏻 Leaving Holy Cross Lake, we passed a sea of pink flowers on the way. I don’t know what kind of flowers they are. It’s a variety I’ve never seen before. It’s beautiful but has a not very pleasant smell.

⛰️This time in the south of France, we also passed the spring town of Fontaine de Vaucluse, which is another secret place with flowing clear water and surrounded by green mountains. The small river that runs through the town is sourced from the Vaucluse Spring, the largest in France, and has abundant water. Sitting in the cafe by the river, you can see the green in front of you, hear the sound of the gurgling stream in your ears, and feel the cool breeze even in the midsummer.

🍾In the small shop at the highway rest stop, I saw a lot of ration wine. France is really a paradise for wine, good and cheap. I want to drink every day in France and have no self-control at all
